Your best bet is to buy a new keyboard they are inexpensive and it is not worth it to try and repair it. it's not really a good idea to drink anything around any electronic devices !!!

Having a quick look at the manual there appears to be a single screw on the rear of the computer that holds the side panel closed. once you remove the screw the side panel should come free.

Replace hard drive motherboard

Before you start replacing drive you need to ask yourself if you are trying to replace a bad hard drive and just want to start with a clean install of the O.S. OR are you replacing your hard drive with a bigger one and wish to keep your installed programs, data and documents. If you want to keep your data and documents you need to know how to save the Files and folders on your computer to a CD, DVD or a USB hard drive. Just replacing the hardware involves unplugging all cables from computer after shutting it down. Then opening the case and unplugging the cables from the hard drive and then remove the screw(s) retaining the hard drive. Remove the old hard drive from the case and replace it with the new one, replace screws and plug cables back up watching that that the connectors are correctly aligned with the key(s) on the hard drive's sockets. Replacing the Hard drive also involves installing the O.S. and all your programs and applications on the new hard drive. You can find a lot of information in the internet about this.

Touchpad not working gateway-6825

Locate the "Fn" key in the lower right or left corner of the laptop keyboard.

The "Fn" key typically has different colored text on it or the key itself is a different color.

Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.

The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.

Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key simultaneously to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.

Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works.

Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.

hope this helps

How do I remove the bezel from a Gateway Notebook. There are no visible screws. The bezel has 4 rubber pieces, 2 op and 2 bottom. I don't want to break the bezel...any tips?

Every laptop's different but on IBM TP's there's usually rubber or a sticker type piece covering the screw holes to look pretty. A quick google search with the model of the notebook may help. This site may help if most gateways are put together the same: http://www.digitalscoop.net/Gateway%20Laptop.html

Re-assembling lower unit of 40HP Mercury 4 stroke

I found a lower gear case assembly diagram at http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_parts/6995/240.cfm which helped me understand how the shift mechanism works. This clued me in to the fact that I was missing the cam follower rod which I then found I had inadvertently mopped up in a shop towel when cleaning up spilled gear oil. After that discovery, assembly and operation was quick and successful.

I can not log onto the computer - some keys will not work......

The Keyboard is defective or going bad on you. Switch out the keyboard with a known working one and you will see a big difference.

If your using a keyboard with a ps2 connector, get a keyboard that uses usb, those seem to be more reliable cause the ps2 connectors wear out quicker.

Replacing Power Button Circuit Card on Gateway W730 K8X Laptop

The instructions for replacing the keyboard include the cover you have to remove to replace the power button pcb. The power button pcb is attached to the bottom of the bezel that covers the hinges/button array. In a nutshell you just remove the 2 screws indicated in the instructions, pry the hinge covers up a bit, then gently pry the bezel up from the bottom. remove the ribbon cable, pull back the small piece of tape, remove the three small screws holding the pcb on, and remove it from the spring clips.
