THE AVASTUI IS APPLICATION FAILED HOW TO HEAL THIS?

Hi bunieljaypee

AVAST! APPLICATION FAILURE

First right click on the Avast! icon, bottom right of the screen near the clock > open avast! user interface > fix > OK > restart computer > float mouse arrow/cursor (no clicking) > avast! Antivirus: your system is secured

If this has not resolved the problem:

Start Control Panel > Add or remove programs > highlight avast! antivirus free home edition > remove all components of the program, including all quarantined files > Apply > OK > restart computer.

Launch internet browser > www.avast.com > support > Free Antivirus > Download product > select "save" download option (to save the avast! setup files on your desktop in case you have a future need for them) > download latest version of Avast! antivirus Free Home Edition > double click Avast! icon on the computer's desktop > install the program, carefully selected and deselecting your preferred options > restart computer > > float mouse arrow/cursor (no clicking) > avast! Antivirus: your system is secured.

Launch internet browser > www.avast.com > support > Free antivirus > register to get licence > complete the personal information inform, selecting "home" use > submit > navigate to your e-mail account > open e-mail inbox > open avast e-mail > highlight, right click and copy the code in the avast e-mail > right click on orange avast icon bottom right > registration information > right click and paste the code into the "insert registration code" box > OK > restart computer.

Everything should be fine after this.

I hope this helps.

"My WebSearch" home page has

Hi

You do not say what type of computer this refers to, which Operating System you use or what type of Internet Access you are using, more information about which might have helped me provide an answer more specifically tailored to your exact circumstances.

In general terms, this sound like a form of Malware/Spyware infection that has changed your Browser and Home Page Settings.

Immediately, you can try to run System Restore to attempt to revert the computer's Settings to those of a date and time when the computer, the Browser and the Home Page were set up, running and performing correctly.

In Windows Computers:

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > Restore my computer to an earlier time > select a highlighted Date in the Calendar and an Event in the Schedule, that preceded the change in your Browser and Home Page Settings > Restore > Restart the computer > test.

If this does not work you might need to improve your Spyware/Malware Protection.

Good products to consider are:

Malware Bytes (www.malwarebytes.org)

Super Antispyware (www.superantispyware.com)

Consider downloading and installing these (even the free versions are good).

Run thorough scans and Malware, Spyware, Trojan and Virus purges with these programs and any other good security software you have installed.

Lock your Home Page in the Preferences > Home Page ****** Protection section of Super Antispyware.

Consider a better, powerful but less system resource draining Anti Virus such as:

Avast! Free Home Edition (www.avast.com).
If you decide to go with it or try it, the download latest Home Edition Version from the Support & Downloads Page of the Avast! Website and follow the onscreen instructions to install, register and activate it.

While multiple Anti Spyware and Anti Malware Programs can be used, in conjunction with one another, on a single computer, Anti Virus Programs generally cannot, as they are likely to conflict with one another, so you will have to either disable or completely uninstall any existing anti Virus Software, in order to use Avast!

If none of this fixes the problem, you might have to uninstall and reinstall your Browser or the Browser Component of your Operating System.

In Windows:

Start > (Default Programs) > (Set Program Access and Computer Defaults) Set Program and Access Defaults > select the relevant Browser Category > edit the Browser Settings.

If none of the above resolves the problem, essential System Files in your Operating System may have been corrupted and you might have to do a Repair Installation or Full Reinstallation of your Operating System, after having done a full Back Up of all important Data (Documents, Pictures, Music, Spreadsheets, Databases, Templates, images, Designs, Drawings, Favourites, Custom-built Websites, Desktop Backgrounds, Screen Savers etc.) to an External Storage Device.

I hope this helps.

I would recommend you uninstall IE8 until CA gets this fixed. Or you can dump CA which IMO is not the best paid for Antivirus software and either buy a great one like Karparski, http://www.kaspersky.com/ or Webroot. http://www.webroot.com/En_US/index.html You can also get a great one free in Avast Home Edition. http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html I run the free version of Avast and love it. Be careful with the download of Avast and only use that link of go here http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?tag=mncol;pop and get it. There is a malicious copycat calling itself Avast.

I have a HP computer, with Windows XP,2002. I had Norton Antivirus 2007, via CD, added to my computer. I want to UNinstall the program. Everything seemed to go OK, --then a display that said, Setup...

Hi co2donjo,

It appears that your un-install didn't quite finish in its entirety, no problem try this:
First off, go to control panel and click on security, see if windows still recognizes norton as your antivirus. If not and it says you are unprotected, go ahead and download the av of your choose, however, Avast is hard to beat, its free and reliable. Follow the setup instructions. You may get a message that says "Avast has detected other av programs install on this computer-do you want to continue with install, click yes or OK. Once your av is up and running go around and delete anything and everything that says norton/symtac. There are quicker ways of deleting the norton av, but, that would depend on your level of windows expertise. You don't want to go snooping through your root directory or your root if your not clear on what to do, so, try this and see if it helps.

Thanks for using FixYa.com

Sincerely, cyyyd7
