Uninstall (not simply delete) all unused applications. These programs take up space on the hard drive and reduce the area for temporary files and load the Windows registry with dozens or even hundreds of file that need to be loaded at boot time. Both of these situations can drastically slow a computer down during boot and while running.

Perform some disk "housekeeping". Run Cleanup to remove old temporary and orphaned files, cookies, etc. Read the directions carefully before using.

Run the Windows Disk Defragment Program. It is a tool for each hard drive. This program consolidates data and free space so that the disk has large, unbroken blocks of unused space to write temporary files - and makes reading data easier as it can be found in one place - instead of having to hunt all over the disk to find it.

Remove existing and prevent future "****" from collecting by using Ccleaner aka "**** cleaner". When run and set up correctly, it will remove and prevent accumulation of junk files and spamware. Again, read directions carefully and allow updates to the program for maximum protection.

Lastly, install a good Anti-Virus program. Norton stuff is very good, BUT can slow a machine down considerably. Other choices are Avast (free "Home" version available) or Viper for about $30. Both are very good to excellent and have minimal impact on the computer speed.

Doing these few items should help a great deal - please rate this reply and good luck!

I would think its a mother board problem. it could also be a processor or ram problem, as its 8 years old i would think its lasted a good long time. there are meany reason for the motherboard to start to play up. they have smd capacitors inside and over time they wear out and start causing problems or regulator chips for voltage start to wear out. it could even be that its just old. you have done well to have one last 8 years. most you would get 3 to 5 years. so it was well made for its time.

2007 R1. I started it too soon, while it was doing pre start tests. So it starts. I take off and everything seems fine. Then when I slow down the idle drops too low and stalls. It will not re start at...

Not sure what an "R1" is but most of the time taking the negative battery cable off for a minute or two will reset most computer related ills (at least until they come up again). You will lose your radio presets, clock time etc. if you do this. Additionally you will be setting your computer back to factory basic program and your car may behave somewhat strangely until the computer re-adjusts itself to your unique vehicle and it's quirks. Lastly if you pull the battery connection you will be clearing all the "codes" that the dealer/technician will need to diagnose your particular problem. However most of the time you can't start a car "too soon". Even most diesels which want to have a glow plug time before cranking, will crank and even start most times even if you don't wait for the light to go out. You shouldn't hurt anything just by turning the key too soon (otherwise a lot of others would be having the same problem as you are). If the manufacturer really had a reason for you to wait to start the engine after turning on the key, they would wire it and program the computer accordingly to prevent you from doing it. I am thinking that there are other issues in your vehicle that may have just picked that time to come to the surface. I am also thinking a visit to the dealer or a good local repair shop is in your immediate future. Sorry :-(

I disconnected my battery in 08 tundra and now it wont idle

disconecting batt resets the computer. now it needs to learn how to set everything to run again. disconnect batt for atleast 60 seconds, re atach, start car it will start and die(dont press gas) do this over and over until it idles (could take up to 10 times). by pressing the gas you make the computer think it is idling to high so it keeps turning down the idle. it will idle fine after reseting computer and starting several times without hitting gas peddle.

Hi fadialias 19...

Shut off the computer and start it in the safe mode, you do this by tapping F8 while the computer is starting up.
Once in the safe mode go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> Restore
You can restore your computer to an earlier time when it was running right.

Hello. I have a desktop DELL OPTIPLEX GX240 BIOS revision AO3. And Windows xp professional sp3. I have a problem is when i on the computer, until windows start need to wait too long time . Around i need to...

The problem unfortunately lies with your computer system. Your computer system is not able to cope with the applications that it has to load at Windows Start up. Each time Windows loads it has to load all of your appliactions set to load at Windows start-up.

What you need to do is to remove/uninstall all applications/programs that you do not use.
Once you have done this then you can proceed to the next step, which is to deselect those programs that you do not need to load, on start-up.

See my published guides below to decrease the boot time of your computer system:

Cant get windowes to start

Hi ,

I see that ur computer has a boot issue i guess you mean to say that you are not getting to the screen where you ca see the icons and the start button. So to correct this issue please follow the steps that i am mentioning.
Disconnect all the external devices like usb devices, printer etc. Then turn the computer off and when you turn it on as soon as you release the power button after releasing it start tapping the F8 key until you get a black screen that says safe mode .Use the arrow keys on the keyboard and then hit enter, wait till it takes you to the log on screen so once you are there select administrator and then hit the enter key. This should take you to the desktop and if it does then you need to restore the computer to an earlier time when you think that the computer was working fine .Go to start?all programs ?accessories?system tools and then system restore. The page takes time to load up and once it comes up select resotre my computer to an earlier time and then click next?select an appropriate date when you think that the computer was working fine and the date thatyou are selecting needs to be in bold.Once you have selected the date click on next next to exit from the wozard and then the computer will restore to the date that you have selected the computer will restart and then would take you to the normal screen .
Hope this resolves the issue ...all the best

Taking a long time to load

If this is your blackberry they do take longer than normal to start. Think of it as a small computer it needs time to boot up.

If it is doing this for longer than 3 minutes or forever than remove battery from phone and reseat sim cards memory card etc.

I updated windows automatic updates and it kept telling me to restart the computer so i postponed it for 4 hours. i then left the computer not shutting it down correctly. now windows will not start...

Turn on PC or restart it if it is running and keep pressing F8 during restart.

On screen that will appear choose to start it in "Safe Mode"

When it starts go to Start - Accessories - System tools - System restore - Restore my computer to an earlier time - choose restore point before the date and time when update was done.

Restoring can take a lot of time so be patient even if you think that progress bar is stuck it is still working. Make sure you choose the restore point older than update time.
