You can have this problem if you are using an SDHC (greater than 2GB capacity) card instead of the identical looking SD (up to 2GB capacity) card. SD stands for "Secure Digital" and SC stands for High Capacity".

You camera has electronics that was designed before the newer SDHC format came to be "mainstream". Using an SDHC card will provide unreliable results at best - or not be usable at all.

Cant take pics, says card protected. used earlier and was fine, now wont take pics at all

Hello,

Have you checked your memory card to see if it IS in fact protected? It is amazingly easy for some camera memory cards to become accidentally protected.

Check and see if you card has a switch that allows it to be set to read only. And if it does make sure it is not set to read only.

I have a FinePix A345 camera and have had it for years. I took pics all day today and then when I went to look at them tonight, my camera read "card not initialized" I can't retrieve or take...

First take the memory card out of the camera. Pictures that have been deleted are probably still there, but will be overwritten if you take any more pictures on top of them.

Your camera is not able to undelete pictures, but there are programs for doing this on a computer. You can put the memory card into a card reader attached to a computer, and use an undelete program to recover the deleted files. Undelete programs are available for free download from the internet, try the one at THIS LINK

If the pictures are very important to you, you might want to seek help from an experienced person.

CAN NOT TAKE PIC- PROTECTED CARD READS ON SCREEN

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Although my memory card is 75% full, my screen reads "there are no files"...I am able to display the files on a computer however. When new pix are taken they are stored and can be displayed. I've tried...

Writing to a camera card using a computer will corrupt the card 99% of the time. It will begin to give strange readings (as you have experienced) and will eventually corrupt the camera you try to play it in. I suggest you use a card reader and download your pics to your computer. Then, format the card in the camera to completely erase it and optimize it for the camera.

Your camera won't write to the memory card until you get rid of the pics in the internal memory. Download any you want to save. Then, with no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. You should be ok after that. Promise yourself you will never use the internal memory again.

Whatever you do DO NOT FORMAT the card. Take it in to a CAMERA shop, not walmart or drugstore, They can probably remove the card and print from that. Sounds likeyour card is full. They can then put all your pics on a CD and you can then reformat the card and use it again.

This card cannot be used

Make sure the gold contacts on the card are clean and, as far as possible, that no foreign matter has got onto the corresponding contacts in the camera.

Did you delete the pics when the card was still in the camera or did you take the card out & put it in a reader attached to a PC?

If the former, then I suggest you get yourself a card reader for your PC - they're very cheap now - and use that to copy any remaining pics from the card to the PC.and then format the card in the PC. Then re-format it AGAIN in the camera. If you can't read the card with a PC card reader then you can try to format it (you'll lose any pics on it). If that doesn't work then the card has probably developed a fault. Best to bin it & buy a new one. They're so cheap now it's often not worth wasting time trying to get money back from where you bought the camera.

If the latter and the card cannot be read by the PC then the situation is the same as above. If it can read it then copy all remaining pics from it to the PC then reformat it on the PC. Then try it again in the camera: reformat it in the camera and see if it works. If not then there's a good chance the camera has developed a fault.

It sounds like your Dazzle is not compatible with the sandisk. Maybe the Sandisk CF UltraII card have a new update software in it.
