You need to check the level of your drain hose.shut the machine off then pull up the drain hose you should hear water running out once the water has stopped, keep the hose in the same position and restart it. This should cause it to to fill to the proper level and start running.
there is a chance that the pressure switch has failed only if the water is coming up to the level of the glass door.

Tub Seal

If the washer is leaking water the tub seal might have a tear or rip and is letting water leak past. The tub seal can be replaced. When the tub seal fails water gets into the tub bearings and usually causes the bearings to go bad also. It is a good idea to replace the tub bearings with the new tub seal.

Tub to Pump Hose

If the washer is leaking water the hose from the tub to the pump might be split or torn. Don't try to cut off the bad piece of hose and stretch it to fit the pump, this will put strain on the remainder of the hose and may cause a sudden and complete failure of the hose which will dump potentially hundreds or thousands of gallons of water onto the floor because the next time the washer tries to fill all of the water will end up on the floor and so the washer will never shut off the valve. Any time there is a damaged hose, replace it completely with the OEM part.

Washing Machine Fill Hose

If the washer is leaking water, check the fill hoses on the back of the washer, this is the most common place for water to leak. If the washer still has the original black rubber fill hoses replace them with stainless steel or some other, more durable hose.

Drain Hose

If the washer is leaking water check the drain hose. The most common places for the hose to spring a leak is from the connection to the pump out to the back of the washer. Another common occurrence is when the washer gets pushed too far back against the wall.

Water goes into tub and drains right back out without agitating

Hello, welcome to FixYa. I understand you have a washer, "water goes into tub and right back out", correct ? To address this, and as long as water is indeed entering the unit here`s what I find is most common when dealing with the symptom you`ve described ( as long as water isn't filling over the top...that indicates a different issue ) I'd suspect the drain hose is lying down on the floor or is pushed down into the stand-pipe too far. If the drain hose is below the water level entering the washer it will siphon out immediately. The drain hose must be above the highest point the washer has to fill, ( refer to your manual, but it is typically recommended to be about "48 to "60 in height but not more than 90" or so ) **The standpipe drain requires a minimum diameter standpipe of 2" (5 cm). The minimum carry-away capacity can be no less than 17 gal. (64 L) per minute. A 2" (5 cm) diameter to 1" (2.5 cm) diameter standpipe adapter kit is available. " The top of the standpipe must be at least 39" (99 cm) high and no higher than 96" (244 cm) from the bottom of the washer.** Also if it is in a stand pipe insure it isn't pushed in too far, just a few inches and then secure it without completely covering over the opening or that too will cause it to siphon. Check your drain hose. Let me know if this was indeed the case and if so please rate the solution accordingly. If not we can move forward from there. Thank's for coming to FixYa and good luck. Regards,

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

Washer filled and will not drain if I reset the fill capacity knob it will fill but not drain.

This washer has a belt. The belt drives the pump on this washer. The motor turns in both directions. iIn one direction the washer tub is locked and the tranny agitates. The water pumps out and the tub spins in the other direction. If that pump is locked up or the hose from tub to pump is blocked then it wont pump the water out. Lay the drain hose down towards a bucket and see if any water comes out. If not you got blockage. Once you drain it out tip is back and remove the belt (no tools needed) turn the pump both directions and look for signs of a failed pump. Manual and more

When the water is entering the tub it immediately goes out the outflow. The tub will not even fill up a little bit. What could be the problem? thanks

The drain hose outlet must be located higher that any expected water level in the tub. If too low, gravity drains the tub as it is filled. Extend the (a) drain pipe up to the proper level, even if you are using a floor drain to carry away the water. Hope this helps!

My LG front loading washer makes a train noise during the rinse cycle. What could be the cause?

if it is right after the drain cycle; it then goes into a spin. It then starts to fill with water for the rinse while the tub is still turning. The water entering the tub while the tub is spinning, cleans the tub of soap and the water going through the holes in the tub are causing the noise. It is normal if only in the rinse cycle.

HE3T Kenmore Frontload Washer Random Draining Problems

The water pumped goes right back into the machine. It may be because the washer is siphoning the water from the laundry tub with a slow drain and back. Your solutions are advised but try this also:
  1. Check the pump impeller for obstruction.
  2. Cut the drain hose into the laundry tub in excess of 4 inches.

Maytag legacy series tub wont fill

Your drain hose is too low or there is no air gap where the hose enters the drain line.
This causes the water to siphon out as it fills.

Water problems

If the washer doesn't fill properly, or if only one temperature of water fills the tub, something is probably keeping water from entering the machine or it's draining before the tub fills completely. Set the controls to the first wash cycle, and then try each water temperature setting. If both hot and cold water seem to be entering the washer with good pressure, water may be draining out prematurely during the fill cycle, through siphoning action. Be sure the drain hose's connection to the standpipe is at least 34 inches above the floor (otherwise, discuss the problem with a plumber). An air gap between drain hose and stand pipe that prevents backflow is also good to have. If hot works but cold doesn't, or vice versa: 1) Be sure both the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. 2) Be sure the supply hoses are not kinked. 3) Turn off the faucets. Unscrew the hoses from the faucets and drain them into a bucket. Hold the bucket under the faucets and test them to make sure they both work and have plenty of pressure (see HERE for information on replacing faucets). Screw the hoses back onto the faucets. 4) Unscrew the hoses from the inlet valves and clean the filter screens just inside them; these may be clogged. To do this, pry out the screens with a screwdriver (this can be difficult; the screens may be inside the valves), flush them under running water, then put them back into the hose. If the screens look defective, replace them. Then screw the hoses back onto the valves. Be careful not to cross-thread the hose threads when screwing them back onto the valves. 5) Call an appliance repairperson; there may be a defective inlet valve or a problem with the controls.
