I have a kenmore elite quitepak 2 front load washer and the estimated time remaining keeps flashing H F and the machine quits working

Hi

Error code FH appears when No water is detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip is not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display. If there is no water entering the unit then make sure that the inlet valves are working fine. You may need to check the continuity at the inlet valves. If the valves are fine then check whether inlet water hoses as they might be plugged. Also check for inlet water screen at the valve. However, if the water is entering into the washer then the Drain pump might not be working. Also inspect the Pressure Switch hose whether it is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch. Also check hoses for leak and inspect the flow meter. Hope this helps...

No water when I start the machine, kenmore he2 front loading automatic washer model 110.46462500

First are the valves open for the water inlet? Next make sure that your hoses are not kinked. (There are some hoses that will seal themselves if they detect a leak, you may want to replace the hoses.) Remove the hoses from the back of the washer and place this free end into a bucket or sink, open the valves and flush lines of any foreign matter. Next clean the screens that are in the washer inlets. Sometimes you can pull these out with pliers for cleaning. Reinstall the screens and then the hoses. Make sure that there are no leaks.

If the above do not help, then the washer inlet valve is probably bad. See the parts diagrams here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Washer-Parts/Model-11046472500/0582/0153200?sid=MMLxMerchandizexManualsModelx110.46462500x11046472500 (top and cabinent parts)

The manual for the 110.46462500 is available from Manage My Life: http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/owner_manuals/17838/KENMORE-Residential-Washers-L0521458?brand_name_search=110.46462500 .

I hope this helps.

check the mesh on your water inlet valve. could be a problem with the valve or the pressure switch.

• Verify Drain pump operation

• Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and

Pressure switch

•Verify there is not a siphon problem

•Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump,

Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)

Water pooling in washer in between loads

The problem is caused by a leaking water inlet valve and the only way to solve it is by replacing the water inlet valve assembly. It is an easy "do-it-yourself" fix that only requires a minimum effort.

Water Inlet Valve Replacement Procedure
  1. Remove the three screws at the back of the machine holding the top cover.
  2. Slide the top cover to the back and lift it from the washer.
  3. Put a bucket or pan under the inlet valves.
  4. Remove the fill hoses from the machine and drain the water into the bucket or pan to avoid flooding your floor.
  5. Remove the screws holding the water inlet valve assembly to the back of the machine.
  6. Use a pair of pliers to press the spring clamp holding the inlet hose to the inlet valve assembly and move the spring clamp away.
  7. Install the new water inlet valve assembly and all other parts disassembled in reverse order of the procedure above.
  8. Make sure to clean the fill hose filters, if there's any, before attaching it to the water inlet valve assembly.

Yes, very likely is a bad water inlet valve allowing water to leak past it into the drum. Really not a difficult repair with a little help.

This problem can be caused by either a leaking water inlet valve, or a condition known as "siphoning". Since you just recently moved, I would make sure you don't have a siphoning problem, first. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Although siphoning normally refers to a constant drain problem where a washer has problems maintaining the proper water level, it can also lead to problems where the drain line will back up into the washer.

Now, if you follow the advice in the link and determine this is NOT caused by siphoning, I would suspect that you have a water inlet valve that is leaking. A tell-tale sign will be water trickling down the fill tube in the rubber door bellow. The water inlet valves have a diaphragm that is controlled by an electric solenoid. Sometimes the valve becomes clogged with sediment or deposits, causing the diaphragm not to close properly. If you live in an area that has hard water, or use well water, you may have hard water deposits or rust build up in the valve. You may be able to correct the problem by removing the valve and cleaning it with some distilled vinegar. You can remove the valve by following these steps:

1. Unplug the washer and turn off water supply at the taps.
2. Disconnect the water inlet hoses.
3. Remove washer top panel by removing the three screws that hold the panel in place in the rear of the washer. With the screws removed, the panel slides back, then off.
4. The inlet valve (this is what your water inlet hoses connect to) will be located in the left rear of the washer (facing from the front). Remove the dispenser hose(s) from the valve and the electric connections. Remember how the electrical connections are removed. They should be color coded. One is for HOT, one is for COLD.
5. Remove the mounting screws that hold the assembly in place.

Once you have the inlet valve removed, you can place it in some distilled vinegar and let it soak. Just don't submerge the electrical connections. If this does not correct your problem, replace the valve. Searspartsdirect.com and repairclinic.com are two notable web sites that I have frequently used. Just type in your complete model number to begin the parts search.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.
