Hi, this unit has a time delay relay built into the thermostat and also has a small time delay relay that is in the condenser unit. Since both units are coming on, but the compressor is not energized, this tells me the delays are working if the outdoor unit kicks on, so that rules the delays out. Even though this unit is brand new, what will keep this compressor from coming on is if when this system was installed, they did a poor job on there brazing of the copper joints and it may have lost its freon charge. This happens a lot. It will shut off on its low pressure switch. Everything seems to be working good from what you have said but the compressor. There is nothing you can do, but you can call out the installers to find out what is keeping the compressor off as it is still under warranty, and the compressor will have a 1-year warranty anyway. Come to think of it, if it has lost its freon, the fan would not run on the condenser outdoors, so that's not the problem. It may have a problem with the compressor, as I have seen them come from the factory with problems!! It does happen, you know the saying even though its new doesn't mean it works. Call them out a.s.a.p. to solve this for you as you may have lost the compressor already. Do this now and keep me posted. Please don't forget to rate me on this as I know you will be kind. I will keep checking back in on you as I keep all of your information on file if I need to get in touch with you, and you can reach me through my user name below. Keep me updated on this, so call them out know and say you want them out now. You paid good hard earned $$$ for this so you should not have to wait.

Indoor blower wont come on when a/c kicks in has a 2 wire stat that controls heat $ cool red & white wire only

  • You must not be looking at the cooling stat Robert. Your system sounds like it is an old two-thermostat system because a two-wire set up cannot in any way control both heating and cooling functions of a HVAC system. Look for another thermostat hiding somewhere and you should find a cooling only stat that has three wires connected....R(ed), Y(ellow) and G(reen) terminals. Once you locate the correct stat, you'll peobably still find the actual problem in the air handler. Sounds like the fan relay is not starting the fan motor.

The condenser unit will not kick is a concord unit,10=12 years old,13 seer,3 ton. The air handler works fine. I thought it was the capacitor. The old one was bad,I verified that with multimeter....

It could be a low refrigerant cut-out (switch), grounded or shorted motor windings, open internal winding overload protector (check at the common winding), a broken conductor, or no power at condensing unit from blown fuses or open/tripped breaker.

New A/C Unit makes loud noise when it starts up

It shouldn't be too loud. You don't explain where the noise is coming from? The air handler/furnace or the outdoor unit.

Originally installed in 1978 as a heat pump. Threw away the outside unit. Want to use the electric inside furnace/air handler as a shop heating source. I don't know how to wire in the thermostat which...

Red is 24v from transformer to terminal R
Green is to Terminal G for the air handler fan motor
Yellow is to Terminal Y for calling cooling to the compressor and fan outdoor unit
White is to Terminal W for calling the heat trips which are usually sequenced to keep them from all coming on at once and over drawing Amps and kick off breakers.
Orange was for outdoor reversing valve for a heatpump system
Blue or Black is usually used for common or negative continuity in the circuit such as Red wire and Blue/Black wire to power a thermostat features on digital T-stats. If not digital T-stat then no common is needed to hook-up at T-stat

Why does my fan runs continus. and the condenser won't run out side.

The fan runs continously because your condensor is not kicking on and removing the heat. The thermostat needs to come under the set temp. to kick off the fan. If your compressor doesn't run and the fan on the outside unit does run, your compressor has an issue. If nothing runs outside, then your transformer on the inside unit(air handler) has an issue. This could also be a control relay on the condenser or the air handler.

My goodman air handle is run on e-heat only and will not turn off ,also the outside unit will not turn on , I put a new themostat this didn't help I have a goodman heatpump

Heat-Pumps can be temper mental. Sounds to me like your air handler is running on emergency heat, due to a problem with the condensing unit. You have heat strips in the air handler in case the outdoor temp. gets to cold and the heat pump cant keep you're home warm. Also, if you loose a compressor, it will go into emergency heat. If you have lost the compressor for one reason or another, lets say a locked rotor, the compressor would draw L.R.A. (Locked rotor amps) and cause the circuit breaker to trip. Check this.As for the air handler running all the time, you said you replaced the stat? When you removed the control wiring from the stat, did the fan shut off? I wish I were on site to help you, but all I can do is offer you some advice. With the power off to the air handler, go to the stat and remove the red and green wires. Turn power back on and see if it stops running. If it stops, then it sounds like the new stat is also faulty? If it continues to run, check the wiring in the air handler to make sure the red and green are not touching somewhere, and also check the control wiring on the outdoor unit for the same problem. Do you have any dogs that may have chewed into wiring? If so, check all outdoor t-stat wiring. There are so many things it could be and I hope very much I have helped you with solving this online, which can be difficult. You may also have a faulty defrost board. Try to do what I have asked of you.
Good Luck, Sincerely, shastalaker7

Heat pump is humming loud>

When the heat is not on. Go to the T-stat and turn the fan to the on position. With the blower now running is it making the noise? If so you probably either have something in there such as the filter that was mentioned, a piece of paper etc. or one or more of the blades on the blower wheel is vibrating. Don't let the condition persist w/o having it checked out or you may turn a simple fix into a costly one.
