How to set display to 1080p on Hisense F42K20E?

You don't. The TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels; so it's already 1080p. The number of pixels can't be changed.

What you're probably getting mixed up with is the TV showing the resolution of the incoming signal when you change channels or go to a different source. Standard definition from cable might be flagged as 480i. DVD might show either as 480i, or 480p, or maybe 720p or 1080i or 1080p if you have a scaling DVD player and set it appropriately. HDTV on cable or satellite will show as 1080i or possibly 720p. Blu-rays and PS3/XBox 360 or PS4/Xbox One should show as 1080p when your TV is connected.

Whatever the source signal resolution, the TV will scale it up to fill the panel area of 1920x1080 pixels. So the TV is always using all the pixels, regardless of the resolution of the source signal.

I hv an old style xbox 360 n i bought a vga hd cable.is it automatic 1080p

It depends on your monitor or tv's native resolution,
if your tv/ monitor is 1080p then you should be able to get 1080p in the xbox settings from the dashboard.
Also, any xbox 360 should display 1080p.
Hope it helped.

My xbox 360 will not read my disk now

easy fix this one, its a common problem especially with elites. buy a 360 hd-dvd drive online (its an expansion dvd player so you can watch hd-dvds on your 360, it was to compete with the sony blu-ray functionality) but you can play your games via this device instead. aswell the hd-drive gives your games full 1080p quality as opposed the 720i that you get from using the 360 alone.

hope this helps.

Is the 56hm195 1080p like they said it is

The 56HM195 can only take a 1080i signal max. This came from a Toshiba rep when I had the same problem with my Xbox 360. The 1080p you see on the packaging box and on the manual references the fact the 56HM195 upgrades all input signals to 1080p internally and projects that on the screen.

Xbox 360 HDDVD Player

Hi,

Check the region code of the disc against your consoles region code, if they don't match it won't it.

Also have you installed the updates for the HD Player, if not either download them via Xbox live or download them from here and copy to disc:

Can you connect to upconversion DVD Player for HDMI performance

The TV supports 1080i so if your hardware is plugged into the Component Cable Connection for Digital TV on the back the signal will come out 1080i as long as the hardware supports the size.

For example, my 360 is connected like this and when the dvd player is in use it upscales from the 480 format dvds use to 1080. More on the HD-DVD for the 360 and how it handles the sizes here:
http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/09/21/xbox-360-hd-dvd-playback-maximum-1080i-via-component-1080p-vga/

Kind of an old article since the newer 360s have hdmi and support 1080p that route.

Hopefully this helps.
