Question about X-10 X10 Dimmable Wall Switch Module Ws467

1 Answer

I have an X-10 WS467 wall switch that likes to turn on (occasionally) by itself. I don't believe it is receiving ON cmds since I have other X-10 devices with the same address that don't go on. I once read something about adjusting sensitivity but I can't find that reference anymore.

I do not know of any adjustments with the X10. I have seen were one was receiving some type of signal and turning on at 3am semi regularly. Try changing address then your only real choice is to replace the device. A better source of support would probably be x10.com

I believe the switch is the same as an X10 switch (WS467). I have interchanged the two in the past. They are also available on ebay.

Is it on all audio sources or only certain ones? Have you swapped the speakers Left-to-Right to isolate the speaker from the signal chain as a cause?

If it's only an analog source doing it I would suspect a bad audio cable or a switch contact somewhere in the signal path. Typically, it might be a switch you rarely use, like a Tape Monitor or Mute. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) manipulate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts.

One speaker buzz when cold

It works fine for a couple of minutes the starts to hum. If you turn up the volume it masks the noise but is till audible, also the video switching cuts out. after examining the components I have seen some heat discoloration in the power suply area and believe it to be power for the video board. disconecting the ribbon cable form the video board the hum goes away, and so does any video wich does'nt matter for me because my monitor1.gif does all the HD video1.gif switching. hope this may help with some noise problems.
