Question about HP DesignJet 9000 InkJet Printer

I think my USB port on my printer has failed. It doesn't show up when I plug the cord into my computer? Do I need a whole new motherboard or can I fix this with a new USB port?

Did the usb connection stop working or are you connecting for the first time. Is it possible that your driver got corrupted? Try reinstalling the HP UBS driver.

The port to which the printer is connected is not supported. Check the port

I'm assuming you are using a USB connection, not a Ethernet connection.

Try a different USB port (preferably in the REAR of the computer, not the front). It's not unusual to have 1 or 2 poorly-performing (low power) ports on a PC; some printers don't like those.

If you have a really old computer, it may have ancient USB type "1" (slow) ports instead of the newer 2.0 or 3.0 USB type. Some printers don't like old USB 1 ports, but it is not supposed to matter.

If all else fails, try another USB cord, or a shorter one. Some printers don't work well with cords longer than 4 feet, and USB cords can go bad.

Or, try the printer on another computer. If the same USB cord works fine there, YOUR computer has the problem (probably a USB port or USB driver issue).

Are you having issues with other USB devices? If so, it may be a Windows driver issue.

Good luck. If no help, post your exact printer model # here, or try contacting Lexmark.com support

Unplug the printer from the power. Turn off the computer and then restart the computer. Plug the printer back in. Let us know what it does.

Doesn't print the whole page

Try to re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Device detector screen doesn't come om when I hook up camera to PC - camera settings are correct

This can be the camera, the cable or the port (PC). Try it in another port and then if nothing a different computer. If you leave the cable plugged in then sometimes the port doesn't wake up and show a device detected or the cable gets yanked stepped on etc and is damaged. The camera itself can have its port fail.

The majority of the time just changing the port "fixes" this. The next usual suspect is the cable. The data cable is fairly cheap and available at most stores think walmart for cheap and camera store for expensive replacements. If the camera is the problem, and you will only know for sure after trying the ports and possibly a new cable you have a couple of options. It isn't that common but does happen. One is getting the camera replaced or repaired (check for any warranty) or just remove the memory card and use a card reader on your desktop or laptop to transfer. This is actually quite a bit faster than the cable anyway.

The ports on the pc can go out but that can be a driver needing to be re-installed or an actual hardware issue. If the port works with other usb devices such as a printer etc then it isn't the port. You can buy a usb port card for under $20 if it is.

HP3600 USB printer works but won't print on my HP7058 Laptop

Try removing all ports from your laptop, then reboot, and then create just one USB port. Also, go to your hardware devices and make sure your usb ports don't have any question marks or yellow warning symbols. Be sure first that the drivers for your USB ports are installed and working first. This sounds either a faulty USB cord, which does happen, or USB drivers issues in your laptop. The printer is probably not the problem here.

Hp photosmart d5063 usb cable problem

If you think the problem is the USB slot, you better make sure of that. Plug the printer to a different USB port. If you have the same problem, you can just buy a USB Card. This USB card will be plugged in to the PCI slot of motherboard of your computer for you to have extra USB port.

Usb ports not recongized

Hello,

Do use in the front ports, sometime this port is unplug to the motherboard so it need to connect before you can use that port. In the back port you can always use that ports in there it is safe to connect any plug and play device such as flash disk or usb port printer. if this both not recognize your any device you inserted then probably your device is dead. try insert your device to other pc to see if still working if not then maybe the driver of your pc are not installed. try reinstall all the driver of your system.

may this help.

All in One psc2210xi printer

Hello, the electrical spike may have also affected your pnter's USB port or worse. Does it copy/scan/fax ok? Try using the one of the USB ports from the back of your computer. USB printers do not like low speed, low power USB ports. Are you using a USB hub or plugging it into a usb port on your keyboard? I doubt the cable is bad, but check it carefully for any black marks on both ends. Have you tried other USB devices on this newly rebuilt computer? Good Luck!
