Question about Canon EOS Rebel T2 with 28-90 lens 35mm Film Camera

1 Answer

Low battery warning

I purchased a second-hand canon eos rebel t2 (300x) 35mm SLR. On my first time using the camera, i bought brand new batteries and a new roll of 200iso film, and tried to take pics on a sunny day, using full auto mode. The camera switched on, autofocus worked fine etc but every time i tried to take a photo, the low battery icon flashes (even though its new, and the camera registers it as full the rest of the time). The shutter fires and the viewfinder goes dark for a split second as normal, but the film doesn't wind on and it just flashes "low battery". The same thing happens in all other picture modes - though i have managed a few successful pics using manual mode and once using portrait mode. I have tried several different films and batteries but the problem persists.

I'm having the same problem with my camera....and I did not buy mine used. I've had it for about 2 years and have never had problems with it until now. Of course the warrenty is up :( Anyway, I bought Duracell ultra CR2 Lithium batteries...but I still get the low battery warning. I do not have the option to plug mine in.

I just bought this camera as well, and am experiencing the same problem. Have tried at least four different sets of batteries... the camera does not have a DC power plug option. The camera is no longer covered by the warranty, as I bought it second-hand.

What type of batteries did you buy?

For digital cameras, you want to use batteries with high milliamp hour (mah) rating: "2500 mah" if they are rechargeable.

If you bought regular batteries, you want to use good quality. Look for the "e2" or "better for digital equipment" type.

Does the camera have a DC power plug option? Try taking pictures with it plugged in if it does. If it still malfunctions with power right from the wall, then you bought a bad camera.

Low battery showing replacing batteries does not solve problem

The flashing low battery symbol is the way Canon film cameras showed that the camera has had an error and has stopped functioning. It can have multiple causes - but for a quick check remove the lens, turn off the camera and then turn it back on - see if the symbol stops flashing. A problem with the lens can also cause this problem (usually a failure of the aperture unit)

My canon eos rebel k2 will not turn on even with brand new batteries in it. What could be wrong?

Dirty contact in the battery compartment, bad power circuit, bad switch etc. Too many things to be able to fix in this forum. Send it in for service or buy another used one, that may cost a lot less than getting yours repaired.

Battery

If this camera is a Canon Rebel K2 the problem may be that it might need a new main drive motor. I have replaced two drive motors in the last couple of days in these cameras. When the motor starts to go bad the film transport may stop in mid cycle and the battery check indicator starts to blink. The battery draw becomes excessive and the camera shuts down. Of course, there may be other problems but this a common one. Hope this helps.
