More likely to have power supply problem, that will be the first place to check, look to see if it has any caps with leaking/bulging tops/seal, burnt spots, shorted transistors in the backlight inverter board, cold solder joints. Look at my DELL albums (BenQ made a lot of monitors for DELL). Be real careful when removing the front bezel, you can easily rip apart the cable.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My screen has gone off and won't come on at all

It may ahve power supply problem due to bad caps, blown fuse, cold solder joints. You need to open it up and troubleshoot it. Please read my guide and look at DELL albums (BenQ makes monitors for DELL).

Benq 19" monitor not working every time when computer started

Check your connections and make sure they are tight, and there are no bent pins. If everything seems ok, you might want to try plugging this monitor into a different computer or plug a different
monitor into yours to determine whether it's the monitor, the video card, or maybe the driver (doubtful on this as you state it seems to be bad somethimes on boot).

Screen displays fine for a second, then goes blank

Dor, BenQ has a 3yr warranty on their monitors. I would contact their tech support and receive an RMA to return it for repair. It will cost you shipping out there but they will ship it back. I has a BenQ FP731 myself and it blew a capacitor inside that allowed the screen to stay on. Fixed it and had it back in 5-7 days. Good luck.

Blank scren, led stays green for only one second

Explicit enough to see that's this a a repair shop job. That also probably means a replacement- cost of which will not be much more than repair prices. One thing how ever- the power supply[which would appear to be the problem] is this built into the screen [that is does the screen have mains power direct? Or is it powered from an external 'Power Brick' If it is of the Power Brick type - then a new power supply is the answer - get on of the stabilized universal type with a fistful of connectors and a voltage selector switch.

Benq monitor powers off immediately

Try sending monitor back as most Benq monitors come with at least a two years silver warranty. Benq are very helpful and their repairers are quick and polite. You will find their no.s on their website www.benq.com my monitor was experiencing the same and for $10 postage and a one week wait is repaired and working fine.
