Here some toubleshooting:

Problem 1. Fan will not start.
Probable Cause
1. Fuse or circuit breaker blown.
2. Loose power line connections to the fan, or loose wire connections in the switch housing.
3. Reversing switch in neutral position.

Suggested Remedy
1. Check main and branch circuit fuses or circuit breakers.
2. Check line wire connections to fan and switch wire connections in the switch housing.
3. Make sure reversing switch position is all the way to one side.

WARNING: Make sure main power is turned off.

Problem 2. Fan sounds noisy.
Probable Cause
1. Blades not attached to fan.
2. Loose screws in motor housing.
3. Screws securing fan blade flanges to motor hub are loose.
4. Switch housing binding against the blade hub.
5. Wire connectors inside switch housing rattling.
6. Screws holding blades to flanges are loose.

Suggested Remedy
1. Attach blades to fan before operating.
2. Check to make sure all screws in motor housing are snug (not over-tight).
3. Check to make sure the screws which attach the fan flanges to the motor hub are tight.
4. Check to make sure that the switch housing does not bind against the blade hub.
5. Check to make sure wire connectors in switch housing are not rattling against each other or against the interior wall of the witch housing.
6. Tighten screws securely.

WARNING: Make sure main power is turned off.

Problem 3. Fan wobbles
Probable Cause
1. Setscrew in motor coupling is loose.
2. Setscrew in the hanger ball/downrod assembly is loose.
3. Screws securing fan blade flanges to motor hub are loose.
4. Fan blade flanges not seated properly.
5. Hanger bracket and/or outlet box is not securely fastened.
6. Fan blades could be out of balance.

Suggested Remedy
1. Tighten the setscrew in the motor coupling.
2. Tighten the setscrew in the hanger ball/downrod assembly.
3. Check to be sure screws which attach the fan blade to motor hub are tight.
4. Check to be sure the fan blade flanges seat firmly and uniformly to the surface of the motor hub. If flanges are seated incorrectly, loosen the flange screws and retighten.
5. Tighten the hanger bracket screws to the outlet box, and/or secure outlet box.
6. Interchanging an adjacent (side-by-side) blade pair can redistribute the weight and result in smoother operation.

WARNING: FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY TURN OFF POWER AT FUSE BOX OR CIRCUIT BREAKER BEFORE TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR FAN!!!

Hope helps.

Why does my ceiling fan 897 only spin slowly

If it has chain controls, one changes the direction, Clockwise, Counter clockwise. The other one alters the speed in 4 pulls, from OFF, SLOW SPEED, MEDIUM SPEED, FAST SPEED, and back to OFF. If there are three chains, the third turns the light on an off.

Why does do I only get one fan speed, and not three on Model 27185?

The light is only a battery indicator light. Check the capacitor in the switchcup. Small, usually black box with wires going to pull chain switch. Also, the fan has to be set on high at the pull chain for the remote to work correctly.

I did not make a diagram when replacing the light switch

Red from switch goes to two blacks, blue from switch goes to two blacks and the black wire goes thru top of light and attaches to blue fan light wire. If you want a good fan, look for blade pitch(13 degree or higher)Or CFM's above 5500 on high.

I have a wall outlet that turns the fan on and I turned it on and the lights are able to work on it but I can't get the blades to move

first, check to see if there is a pull chain or string on the fan motor to control the fan speed. this usually has 4 positions, off, low, medium & high speeds. someone may have turned the speed switch to off.
it done cost nothing but your time to look and you might suceed in turning on the fan motor.

The ceiling fan do not occilate the light turn on but the other does not work propperly

mcdevito75 here, Both the fan and lights work off the wall switch, for the fan to work there is also a pull chain close to the ceiling on the fan shroud you have to pull that chain to get the fan going and 1--2 more times for various speeds. If by chance the fan is brand new, reove the blades and check for stops in the fan motor, right where the blades hook up, these are in place from the factory and have to be removed for the fan to work, they pull right out.

Fan speed too fast

Is there a light switch control or just straight power to the fan? They do sell "Fan" controll switches just like a regular dimmer, but for a fan. If there is just straight power u would still be able to install a remote that could lessen the speed. Even if it is just pull chains. the remote would have three speeds and if u kept the pull chain on low, maybe the low remote speed could work.

Hampton Bay 54 In. 5-Blade with remote control at wall.

1. Set the remote to run the fan on high.
2. Pull the fan speed chain until the fan reaches high speed.
3. All speeds should work normally now.
The remote is modulating the maximum speed as set by the pull chain.
