Hi, chuckm37

15 pin adapter doesn't carry sound only hdmi-hdmi permits tranfer of sound. the best way to transfer sound is to get a separate wiring for the sound source. like this

When using the 15 pin - b72ca48.jpg

Hopefully it helps

    hi chuckm37,

you need a separate rca to tranfer sounds plug it on headphone or audio out of the laptop then connect it to the audio input of the television. But it will not display the image. you can only do one at a time its by either choosing a display or using the tv as a sound source. you cannot do both.

    Hope this helps
    thanks

Dell inspiron 1520 won't turn on.

Remove the battery from its compartment on the side of your Dell Inspiron laptop computer.

Remove the power adapter from its plug on the side of the Dell Inspiron (if your laptop is currently plugged into a wall outlet).

Press down and hold the "Power" button on the laptop for one to two minutes. This will dispel the excess electrical current that is built up inside the laptop.

Put the battery back inside the compartment of your Dell Inspiron.

Plug your power adapter back into the side of the Dell Inspiron. Press "Power." Your laptop computer will now turn on.

hope this helps

Dell inspiron 1520 how do i connect to my tv

The Dell has a VGA port 15 pin DSub connector and if your TV has a 15 pin viseo connector the you need a 15 pin video cable. Check the connectors on the Dell and TV so you get the correct connectors. You will need to select the computer input on your TV so it can display the Dell computer video images.

Hi,
you can do a quick troubleshooting on the laptop.
1. used another network cable and check that no pins are broken on the laptop.
2. go to device manager and remove the network adapter and reinstall it.

if this don't work. if you have a wireless router, you can connect to the internet over the wireless network adapter on the laptop.

good luck!!

Hello.

The most common reasons are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

But, if you paid for the Dell service, Dell needs to fix the problem. Sounds like they replaced the motherboard with another faulty one.

Hope this helps.

I have a dell inspiron 1520 that is 15 months old doesn't go on

Generally, if the AC adapter for the system's LED goes out when connected to the system, check the battery and see if it is holding a a charge (Press the button next to the LEDs on the battery see if all 5 light up)  If the battery still has power, then most likely there is a failure of the motherboard.
If you can, try another Dell D-series AC adapter and see if the same thing occurs.  If the system powers on, replace the AC adapter, if not it is a motherboard.

This is a problem common with some RCA/GE TV's. The fix in the past was to install a capacitor between ground and pin 15 of the microprocessor which keeps a data signal riding on the video stream from muting the sound on most stations. By installing this capacitor, you would be disabling the closed caption feature so that feature would no longer work. An authorized RCA TV repair shop may be able to give you more information.
