Question about Kenwood Food Processors

1 Answer

I have a kenwood multipro compact 750w 2.1 litres. today when i was grinding a few lentils i must admit with a little water i saw black smoke coming out of the bottom of the processor. i stopped using it immediately. just to check that it was ok i tried using it again after half an hour and it was working fine.but i didn't overdo it and stopped using it after a minute. i just want to know whether it was the motor burning and if that will be a fire hazard if i use it again.

Howdy. Black smoke from an electric motor usually means damage. You say it worked after, that's sort of good. I suggest you use it until it dies and keep it unplugged when not in use. Plan to replace it fairly soon, though.
Good luck.

Same here - brand new
The display initialises and it's possible to calibrate - the scales then display a figure which alters as load is applied
trying to zero just turns off

I have purchased a kenwood FP270 food

not sure if this helps, but we bought the same FP270 11 months ago & use it 3-4 times a week with juicing attachment with carrots & apples. Last week the motor started to smell, and motor burnt out completely today with dust & noxious smoke coming out of the bottom. The Good Guys exchanged it for FPM270 with no hassles under warranty. I don't think the motor is powerful enough for serious kitchen work & had many cracks in the plastic parts.

Why is smoke coming from Kenwood chef A901

sounds to me like you may have burnt up the motor probaby by mixing to heavy of a load or running it too long, or by just being older. I would replace it as fixing it would be costly

Would be good to know the model number - look at the base plate as Kenwood made 4 different Multi Pro Compact models.
