Hello, I have an alienware laptop with a card slot that up until two days ago, I was able to put my Panasonic p2 cards into, and transfer the mxf files onto another hard drive. I was given a mandatory software update from DVFilm on their Raylight mxf to avi conversion software. As part of the update, I had to install the 32-bit driver for all windows os, the panasonic p2 viewer v3.1.2, and the directx 9.0.
Since the update of that software, my pc will no longer recognize the p2 cards. I've tried installing and removing the p2 drivers, new one and old ones, and that hasn't worked. The raylight company has not been any help.
My question: All I need is for my pc to recognize the p2 cards so that I can transfer the mxf files onto another hard drive. Any suggestions?

Re: card slot won't read p2 card
have you thought about restoring your system, to an earlier point.
before the problems occured, with your software update.
also if this fails, or you are unable to acheive this.
check in the device manager, to see if you have any yellow exclamation marks, next to your device.
you may need to re-install the device/driver for your card-reader.

try taking a small piece of wire and bending a small hook into one end slide it in on TOP of the stuck disc and hooking the center hole of the disc, (you don't want to get the wire under the disc because you could damage the disc reading hardware) also once you have the disk hooked you may have to use the tweezers to gently hold the front of the disc up to align with the slot as your pulling it out. you should feel a little resistance but don't try to force the disc out too hard.
Do you have insert it in the right place? For my experience the first time I use my laptop's SD card reader I inserted it to a wrong place. The card reader on you PC may like the card slot of your camera, and there is a false card in it as dust-proof. You should get it out buy press it and then it will pop-up(at first, I dare not use big strength to press it until I know it won't damage it)Good luck if your problem is the same as mine.else ..
Since you own Macpro you need to connect a duel adapter for pcmcia cards and since Macpro has already drivers for P2 ,the rest is easy, just connect and follow the procedure.
You can also download through firewire and usb port.
Try to put your sd card to the slot, and check device manager.
check if there is yellow question mark on the device manager.
if it is, it's driver problem, just update the driver.
if not, try with another sd card and if this still not working, it's your sd card slot has problem.
