Card slot won't read p2 card

Hello,
I have an alienware laptop with a card slot that up until two days ago, I was able to put my Panasonic p2 cards into, and transfer the mxf files onto another hard drive. I was given a mandatory software update from DVFilm on their Raylight mxf to avi conversion software. As part of the update, I had to install the 32-bit driver for all windows os, the panasonic p2 viewer v3.1.2, and the directx 9.0.

Since the update of that software, my pc will no longer recognize the p2 cards. I've tried installing and removing the p2 drivers, new one and old ones, and that hasn't worked. The raylight company has not been any help.

My question: All I need is for my pc to recognize the p2 cards so that I can transfer the mxf files onto another hard drive. Any suggestions?

THANKS for any info!

Joe B.

I have a Dell M6400 with Vista 64-bit on it. I tried to install P2 driver for PCMCIA card reader and this allways times out! So after trying to install driver, my PCMCIA port does nothing anymore!!! The only thing I then can do, is restore to the point before installing P2 drivers...

Hi,
have you thought about restoring your system, to an earlier point.
before the problems occured, with your software update.
also if this fails, or you are unable to acheive this.
check in the device manager, to see if you have any yellow exclamation marks, next to your device.
you may need to re-install the device/driver for your card-reader.

SD Card and disc stuck in CD slot of Alienware M14x?

try taking a small piece of wire and bending a small hook into one end slide it in on TOP of the stuck disc and hooking the center hole of the disc, (you don't want to get the wire under the disc because you could damage the disc reading hardware) also once you have the disk hooked you may have to use the tweezers to gently hold the front of the disc up to align with the slot as your pulling it out. you should feel a little resistance but don't try to force the disc out too hard.

I have an hp pc with photo card readers. When I insert the sd photo card nothing happens.

Do you have insert it in the right place? For my experience the first time I use my laptop's SD card reader I inserted it to a wrong place. The card reader on you PC may like the card slot of your camera, and there is a false card in it as dust-proof. You should get it out buy press it and then it will pop-up(at first, I dare not use big strength to press it until I know it won't damage it) Good luck if your problem is the same as mine. else ..

I cannot copy the pictures from my Sony Cybershot to my pc; A few days ago my pc crashed and I lost the CD-ROM to install picture package menu. what do to now ?

Hello, you can recover the pictures directly from your camera without needing cables if you have a card reader.

If you do have a card reader, then:
  1. Open your camera's memory slot
  2. Remove memory card
  3. Insert memory card in your PC or laptop's memory card reader.
  4. The card will then appear on My PC exactly like any pendrive.
  5. After you're done copying photos, click over the system tray's "Safely remove Hardware" icon, and select the memory card.
  6. Wait until Windows prompts you that it's safe to remove the hardware.
  7. Put the memory card back on the camera.
Also, from here you can get the drivers for your camera

And, from here, you can order a new CD from Sony, but they will charge you for it.

All times before my laptop has read any card i have put into the fronyt of it but recently it will not read my camera card...i would be gratful for any advice . kind regards katie xxxx

Hi Katie, normally when you put a card in that slot it should read it as a removable drive and show up under my computer. If you know your camera card is good and its not being read by your laptop then that means that slot is bad and since that slot is part of the motherboard, the motherboard would have to be replaced.

If your not sure about your camera card being good, then try other cards in the slot and if other cards read in there fine, then you know its your camera card that is bad.

Memory card not recognized

Try to put your sd card to the slot, and check device manager.
check if there is yellow question mark on the device manager.
if it is, it's driver problem, just update the driver.
if not, try with another sd card and if this still not working, it's your sd card slot has problem.
