Hi,
I have an EPOX EP-7KXA with an Athlon 600Mhz not overclocked (at this
stage). I'm trying for some system stability. Mostly OK, but major concern
is that my Aztech USB modem keeps dropping out. Put it on my son's Celeron
333, no problem. Also worked OK on a Notebook that I sold recently.
This is becoming really annoying and I'm wondering if there is a problem in
the USB area of this motherboard. Otherwise, it seems to be running fine.
System specs as follows:
Epox EP-7KXA Motherboard Rev 0.3 (Original Bios 28-Jan-2000)
Athlon 600Mhz (not overclocked)
MSI 8088 TNT2/64 32Mb Video Card
Creative Encore 8X with Dxr3 DVD
Sony CRX-100E CD-RW
Creative Live sound (have removed this and just tried on-board audio)
AverMedia TV card
IBM 20Gb Hard Drive
Win98SE (although tried Original Win98 as well).
Latest Video, VIA 4in1 and Modem drivers.
Latest Updates.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Regards....Earle

However - I would really recommend you bin the USB modem anyway - they are
all mostly software based and give poor performance in comparison to a
decent hardware pci modem (which you can find for around ??40 ~$60 if you're
in the US)

aware of a potential problem for *some* users and is working on an upgraded
USB Filter to fix the issue which affects higher current draw devices. (I
know my PC Camera keeps dropping off & it draw the max 500ma allowed, but
everything else works fine in mine).
