Question about Endless Summer 153100 Open Flame Patio Heater

I have an Endless Summer (Blue Rhino) patio heater with model number 153100 and the pilot flame is not strong enough to keep the thermal coupling open. What has to be done to fix that?

The pilot jet may be clogged. If there is a flame, it must be small and blue. A large flame that is orange or yellow tipped means that there is a partial blockage in the pilot assembly which needs to be cleared. The pilot flame must also touch the thermocouple in order to heat it correctly. Make sure that the pilot jet and thermocouple are positioned correctly. If you have an extremely small pilot flame, try repalcing the regulator and hose as the regulator may be failing.

Pilot light won't stay lit when I let go of the igniter knob. Flame is yellow and long.

Sounds like the Thermocouple has failed and needs to be replaced. It's not difficult to do. But, finding the part may be. Blue Rhino, is the manufacturer for Endless Summer Patio Heaters, so start there.

I have a full tank of propane - my pilot light is sparking but it will not light? Any ideas on what to check? Thank you, Korby

Korby, I think you meant, your ignitor is sparking and you're not getting gas to the pilot. Since you have a full tank of propane, I can rule out that the tank is empty. However, I believe the tank or at least the tank valve is playing a role in this.

Turn the tank valve completely OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the hose to the tank. Turn the tank valve ON VERY, VERY SLOWLY (Slow Motion, slow) until the valve is fully open. Then light the pilot as you normally would. If the pilot lights, you solved the problem. If it didn't, either the pilot light is clogged and needs to be cleaned or the heater's hose/regulator assembly needs to be replaced.

Endless Summer Patio Heaters are made by Blue Rhino. So, if you need parts, that's where you can get them. Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Flame goes out after 5 to 10 min then have to wait until it cools to relight

Unless, it's the wind blowing the flame out, I'd say the Thermocouple needs to be replaced. This is based on what you said, " have to wait until it cools to relight." The reason for that, is that the burner control valve has to reset itself. You can also check the pilot and pilot orifice for obstructions. Blowing it out with a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) may also help solve the problem. As insects like to build nests in these heaters, when they are not in use.

Endless Summer Patio Heaters are manufactured by Blue Rhino under the name Uniflame and Endless Summer. You can purchase any necessary parts from them online, if necessary.

Hope this helps you to solve your problem.

I would have suggested the same thing. It may not be cleaning it needs. If the thermocouple has failed, then it needs to be replaced. I sure would start by giving it all a good cleaning though.

The pilot light won't stay lit, sometimes it will stay lit and start the heater, but then it just turns off within 5- 10 seconds?

Probably the thermocouple is bad and needs to be replaced. I assume you have enough fuel? . Is this a new unti or is it a bit old?

Blue rhino endless summer patio heater

Try replacing the regulator, easy fix. If it is not the regulator, the thermocouple could be bad, or the pilot flame may not be strong enough to heat the thermocouple. Take apart the head, if you are comfortable with it, and see if there is a blockage in the pilot assembly.
