What's your make and model# please? Did you do a system restore from Windows or did you use the recovery cd that should have come with your pc? Thanks.

Hello

The system restore component in windows is mostly flawed and causes more problems than it fixes.

If you must restore to the point of purchase use the windows installation disk or system restore disk that came with your pc.

Hi, Restore your computer to the last restore point before it froze using system restore. This should reset the computer where everything was working properly. Hard shut downs can corrupt files and drivers. Also do a full virus scan to make sure your system is clean.

Application iesample.exe encountered serious error and must shut down and can't get IE or any web page open to download a fix

You will need to uninstall Internet explorer.
By uninstalling it Internet Explorer will be reverted back to an earlier edition.
This should fix your issue
If not try system Restore on your computer.
If that does not work go to another PC and download firefox to a thumb drive
use that and install it on the net book

Remove IE9

The full guide can be viewed at Microsoft's site to install / uninstall Internet Explorer 9 (eg use IE8):

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/how-do-i-install-or-uninstall-internet-explorer-9

I've pasted the relevant portion for your convenience:

To uninstall Internet Explorer

The following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista.

  1. Click the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.jpg, type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.

  2. Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.

  3. Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.

  4. Click one of the following:

    • Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).

    • Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version ofInternet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is not necessary to reinstall.

Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks!

The DVD player, Sound, and Internet Explorer are not working, and the desktop icons have dissappered. How do I get them working again ?

The model # was more important than the color of it but, It sounds like you may have got a Virus. But lets start here with what we have ...
Right click anywhere on the desktop. On the menu chose "View". then "Show desktop icons".
If this is not possible then you have a Virus. If your unable to run a virus scan successfully try a system restore from a boot up option and not from within Windows.
I'm not 100% sure but I think its the f9 key that you tap during the boot up that will give you the restore options. This is a last step option so please Do This at your own risk.
PLEASE GO TO ASUS.COM & FIND YOUR MANUAL TO HELP IN THIS PROCESS IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY.

MY toshiba 4300 was working untill i tried to install internet explorer 8 then i prompted me to shut down and ever since then when i turn it on a blue screen pops up saying boot volume or somthing i need...

Hi, yes. Download a program called ERD Commander 2008 or 2005 and make a bootable CD. I think you will download an ISO so you need Nero to burn it on a disk. Then boot from it (on the toshiba 4300) and once you are using the ERD commander, look for system restore, and it's the same as the Windows system restore. Choose a day before you downloaded the Internet Explorer and see if it works. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast-free response today. Thank you :D

"since then the computer will not turn back on".. (sic) At all? not properly? exactly what do you mean? Can you do this ->> Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Gateway M6862 Laptop Freezing, Crashing

Try to restore this to an earlier time using system restore, it should keep all of your files, but if you installed something recently it will not be there and many times this is the simplest solution.
