Question about Computers & Internet
After doing a bit of research I have to agree with Dag. The safest way to reset the HDD password for your Acer Laptop is to pay the $100 and send it to Acer for repairs.
There are other options available but all these cost $$$. Have a look at http://www.hddunlock.com if you like but it's a bit complicated, costs $20 or so and you will loose all the info on the HDD. Also there is no guarantee that your specific HDD is "crackable" by their software.
Sorry for the bad news.

See if this helps, otherwise, you can usually buy OEM branded Media for systems on EBay so you can reinstall Windows

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
