Hi there,
If you oare using a windows based operating system.
On your keyboard hold the windows logo and press the letter R
When the run box comes up type in regedit
go to this key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
delete the upper and lower filters
Reset the computer and check if the cd/dvd drive will now work.
Hope this helps!
You shouldn't need one. These drives are usually generic, the bios on your PC should find it and display it as an extra drive.
Assuming its connected and powered up, also assuming you're using windows, just click on "My Computer" you should find it there, probably listed as D, E or F drive.
did u try to use any other CD on ur computer..
there may be a possibility if the CD ur trying to use is not compatible with ur computer..
check this first.. and let me know if problem persists..
regards,
guru
This could be due to a common issue. I would suggest you try this method first.
The following is a link to the Microsoft documented solution for issues with DVD/CD drives, explaining a step-by-step procedure. In the event that the first process, which is automated labeled "Fix It" does not solve your problem, please continue to the end of the document.

After completing this procedure, please let us know if you are still experiencing any issues by posting a comment. If this information was helpful, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you
you changed the dvd from one machine to the other? well, then you'll need to download drivers for that other computer, for the dvd that moved..this is a usual situation. Now, unless we know the computer make and operating system of the second computer, it's not simple to find the driver location(which is most likely on the computer makers website)
as with all writers eventually they fault at the lens and it gets out of line and cannot read discs, you can try the usual thing of checking LG for any firmware updates, but first:-
Go to my computer>right click>hardware tab>device manager, then down list to cd/dvd drives and click '+' sign and highlight your writer, right click on it and select uninstall.
Restart PC and it will be automatically re installed, try again and if no change you will need to replace the drive as they are cheaper nowadays.
