Question about La Crosse Radio Controlled Atomic Clock

1 Answer

We have an Atomic Lacrosse WT-3143A clock; the battery ran out and a new one was put in. The hands rotated and stopped at 8 o'clock. We pushed ET buttons on the back and nothing happened, pushed the reset button (I'm assuming it's a reset button) still nothing happened. We then changed the battery to make sure it's a brand new one; clock rotated to 12 o'clock and stopped. Maybe we're doing something wrong...please instruct us on how to reset the clock....thank you.

Hands rotate endlessly onatomic clock wt 3143

If you have not talked to La Cross and if you continue to have the problem, most likely it may be a signal problem. I had a similar
problem with an earlier model and found that it only worked on
the west facing wall as the signal is coming from WWVB which is the NISTtime signal radio station near Fort Collins, Colorado. Get a fresh battery, reset the clock, put it in a west facing window and leave it overnight. If it doesn't work, contact La Cross as above post.

The second hand on our LaCrosse atomic clock has stopped moving but the clock continues to keep perfect time. How do we get the second hand turning again?

The manual for one of their clocks says the clock will change the second hand to two-second intervals to conserve energy when the battery voltage gets low. Perhaps your battery is VERY low.

Hands started spinning and won't stop. I replaced battery - still spinning

Remove the battery and replace with a new one. Just because.
Depress the tab on the back of the clock mechanism firmly (it pushes in a button beneath it) 22 times. While you're pressing the tab, the hands will begin to rotate. They will stop at 12 , 4 or 8 o'clock.

Place the clock in a window where it will be able to receive the radio signal.

Next morning the clock should have re-set to U.S. Pacific time. Press the on the clock mechanism that corresponds to your time zone and you should now have the correct time again.

Resetting to daylight savings time.

The clock is searching for a strong enough radio signal from NIST station WWVB. When it can't lock on it, it gives up, moves the dial four hours, and goes to sleep to wait for better reception. Put the clock in a window facing towards Boulder, CO, overnight. (Radio propagation is better after dark.)
