If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

You have I think two issues. One is a clogged vent/vent hose. You need to have the vent system cleaned out. If the unit is not getting hot with the vent off, you probably have a defective heating element. This probably went out due to the clogged venting system.

Kenmore dryer lights up but will not start just gives a beeping sound

Most likely a blown thermal fuse due to a clogged vent system, inside the machine and/or the vent hose to the wall port.

Clean the vent system and check the fuse, replace if needed.

I have a Duet Dryer model GEW9200LW2. It takes a couple cycles to dry clothes and my electric bill has gone through the roof. Is there something I can fix or replace?

Hi spirko...
Sounds like its time to clean your machine of lint, strings, paper, etc from the vent system of the dryer.
You will need to remove the back of the dryer, and you will need to find the air blower tubing system, you will take that apart and remove any dust, dirt, lint, pens, paper, etc that you find around the blower wheel, check the wheel to make sure it is not broken or loose on the shaft, make sure your cleaned everything all the way out of the dryer...Now you can put it back together after cleaning.
Then you will want to clean your vent hose all the way out to where it vents to the outside of the house, this can be accomplished with a vacuum, and something stiff to tie the vacuum hose to to feed it into the vent pipe for cleaning.
They do make a special cleaning tool for vent tubing, check with homedepot, lowes, etc
After you get everything clean and plugged back in your machine should operate normal and your electric bill should return back to normal again.

My dryer is taking way to much time to dry a basic load

The problem is either a blocked lint filter or a restricted vent system if the dryer heats up normally or a faulty cycling thermostat if the dryer heats up erratically. Check and make sure the lint filter is clear. You may need to have a contractor have the vent system checked and cleaned as it is necessary to clean them at least once year or every six months if 4 to 5 loads are done everyday. Restricted vent system impedes the airflow and therefore the disposing of the steam it carries. This consequently results in the longer drying time.

Replace the cycling thermostat if the dryer is heating up erratically or does not heat up sufficiently.

Gas lights up for about 5 minutes and then burns out. Try to turn on dryer again, but flame won't light. I let dryer sit for aout 30 minutes and turn on again - flame starts up, but will only last...

If the flame is shutting of before it reaches the operating temperatures the likely failure is a restricted venting system. There is a high limit thermostat that will cause the flame to shut off if there is a lack of airflow due to a restriction in the vent system. Remove the lint filter screen and clean in with soap and water. The filter may appear clean but it could have a clear film of fabric softener residue covering it causing a restriction in the air flow too. After cleaning the filter reinstall it before running the next test.

For testing purposes only, disconnect the dryer vent hose from the back of the dryer and put a normal load of clothes in the dryer and start the dryer. If the clothes dry in the normal amount of time that would confirm a restriction in the vent hose or the venting system. NOTE: Do not leave the vent hose disconnected after running the test. Reconnect the vent hose.

You will likely find the clothes drying in the normal amount of time indicating a restriction in the venting.

My dryer isn't drying like it used 2, I have 2 run it a couple times on a cycle 2 get the same effect i used 2 get with 1 cycle. lint trap is clean, lint hose is clean vent also?

Check your vent hose. You probably need to get the vent system cleaned out. It sounds like you have a restriction in your vent line.

Cloths take way too long to dry. Heat is working in dryer. Timer works, counts down from 60 min, buttheremo drying timer takes way too long.

You will need to check the dryer venting system for a restriction. If there is a restriciton in the venting system the dryer will get hot but the clothes will stay wet due to the moisture never leaves the dryer. First check the air flow at the vent exit located outside. Verify that there is plenty of airflow. Make sure the vent screen is not plugged. Then remove the screen and visually inspect for excessive lint. Then go inside and check the moisture vent hose behind the dryer. Verify that the vent hose is not kinked or restricted. Then remove the hose and clear out any excessive lint. Then check the vent opening at the back of the dryer for any excessive lint build-up. There is a vent cleaning kit that you can purchase from any home improvement store that you can use to clean out the venting system also. When you are done airflow should be good and clothes should properly dry.

There is a restriction in the dryer venting system. If the moisture is not removed from the dryer thru the moisture vent then the clothes will get hot but not dry. You will need to remove the vent hose at the back of the dryer and look inside the vent pipe and see if it is restricted with lint. You might need to reach up inside the vent with your hand and pull out the lint. Also some of the newer dryers have a fan assisted venting system and if the fan stops working that can cause this issue.

Thermodisk keeps going out

Three words for you: Airflow airflow airflow.

I estimate 95% of all (electric) dryer no heats are caused by a lack of airflow causing the thermal cut out to blow.

Clean dryer venting system (dryer vent hose all the way to the exterior vent on the building) and clean the dryer itself from lint filter to the blower wheel.

It is also possible your blower wheel may be damaged and not giving the airflow needed to keep the dryer within normal temp limits.
