You may have turned down the screen control
It is the lower one on the flyback transformer
Just advance it enough to get the pix back. If you advance it too much it may get retrace lines in the pix or shut down.
turn very slowly.
Thanks Guy

Some channels on my tv are dark and tinted orange, I used the menu button to display the menue and scrolled down to picture but I did not know how to select picture.

Hello
Adjust colour control to zero, and check for a pure black/white picture. Adjust contrast and brightness control to minimum and check whether the picture goes completly off or a slight picture prevails. If the picture goes out when you turn down brightness control to 1/3 position, that is about 20 points, your TVs screen voltage is very low, and it can be adjustable. If the picture does not go out and more brightness prevails, screen voltage is high. If the screen voltage is high, there will be some fine lines across the screen at about an inch apart; on the whole screen from top to bottom.
Screen voltage adjustment is critical for the clarity of the picture. If it is low, no proper colour will be dispayed. If it is high, it is harmful to both picture tube and your eyes.
Never try to adjust it without proper knowledge about it. The screen control can be located alongwith the LOT [Line Output Transformer], of your tv. There will have two adjustable controls there, one is for Focus, and the other is for Screen. Both are interactive, that is adjusting one will effect an other.

No picture, black screen

Not a TV Technician, use the following information at your own risk. Two things you can do first: using the keys on the front of your set press and hold the menu button when while holding it down it goes from menu to channel listing press the adjust (<->) and channel up buttons simultaneously to get to the factory set up screen once there use the select button to scroll to next set up screens locate the contrast it should range from 1-63 find the one you like. Second: for the horizontal lines not to say that this is the solution there are two adjustment apparatuses inside the TV chassis if your familiar with taking the set apart and not getting shocked and hurt59274cc.jpg two dials on the fly back transformer ones for focus the other brightness you can try these fixes but I have to say again that you use at your own risk. I do hope though that the information is useful

Color on the picture is dark

You can adjust the brightness on the back of the set which says screen. put a mirror so you can see the screen and slowly turn the screw clockwise until you can see the picture.

Picture is dark

sitnlisten - yes it does appear your pix tube is getting weak, but we may be able to turn up the flyback alittle to brighten up the picture. If you take the back off you will see the flyback-large black unit with a wire going to the round rubber cap on the back of the pix tube.Look at the flyback there are usually 2 adjusters one marked focus the other screen, just turn up the screen a little bit at a time.If you turn this up too much you will wind up with retrace lines on the screen. You may also want to check the pcboard ass'y for a sub bright adjust, and same thing small adjustments. If this don't help your pix tube may be too far gone.I hope this helps. cooltek Feb.1/08

Tv is too dark

You didn't say how old your TV is. If it's very old the picture tube could be weak. IF not then there is a screen adjustment on the flyback transformer that you might try to adjust. Sometimes you can access this adjustment without removing the back cover. If you see an adjustment through a hole in the back of the cabinet marked "SCREEN" then you might try turning this control clockwise while watching the picture in a mirror. Only a slight adjustment may be needed. Don't make it too bright or the set may shut down or have small white (retrace) lines in the picture. If you have a projection TV then dust on the three picture tube lenses will darken the picture. These are general statements that apply to different TV's. I assumed that this is a direct view 32 in. i dont know this exact model, but i can advice you based on a slightly diffrent model. i hope the solution will be valid for your model as well: TV is digital controlled and have to be adjusted via service menu except the external focus and screen on back of (flyback) high voltage transformer. This is one you can try: Need plastic allen or plastic small flat blade screwdriver to fit these. Focus is top, bottom is the screen that set the overall brightness. Before adjusting, go in menu: press menu once, select picture quality, I think number 4, press 2 for "preset..", press 2 again to select normal. Back out by pressing zero repeatedly. It may ask you to save new settings, select yes. If screen is adjusted too bright, picture look lousy (washed out) the blacks will light up (becomes grey, or visible lines) this means you have actual fault that prevents you to get decent pix, that when it is time to take it in for repair.
