If you can't remember it then you'll need to override it.

Unfortunately, this means opening up the tv and resetting a jumper to clear the password, but as Sinqtec are a virtually unknown brand (probably just a badge stuck onto a generic Chinese model) I cannot offer specific advice, but any halfway decent tv repair technician or experienced DIY repairer should be able to find the correct jumper on the circuit board for you.

    Sorry for the delay.

    In response to your comment, yes, there might be a way to access hidden servicing menus via the use of your remote control. But I cannot confirm this, let alone tell you how to access them as your tv is such an obscure brand. It may even be that there are no hidden menus or that any such menus are accessible only by use of a special servicing remote control.

    Under the circumstances, you only have two options: contact the importer/distributor of Sinqtec in your country and ask for assistance or do as I previously suggested.

    Note that on some models there is no specific jumper to clear passwords but there is often a jumper which resets the tv to its original "out of the box" configuration and if there isn't even that option it's always possible to achieve the same result by briefly disconnecting the small internal memory battery which ensures that the tv retains its settings when disconnected from the power supply. A total reset has the minor inconvenience that the tv needs to be completely retuned again, so it's always preferable to use the password reset jumper if there is one provided.

    Sorry that it's impossible for me to provide a more specific answer, but there are hundreds of Chinese factories producing cheap (but perfectly good) generic flat panel tv's which any company can buy and have their brand name applied to. With some obscure (typically budget supermarket) brands, I have found that the same tv model number may have totally different internal components and menus even if they look superficially the same on the outside.

    Good luck with this, I'm sure that if you follow my suggestions you will resolve your issue either speedily (via a tv tech) or cheap/free (via the importer/distributor). Sadly, I doubt that you'll find a very quick AND free solution but I sincerely hope that you prove me wrong.

How to Unlock Your Apex TV When Screen is Locked

If you find that your Apex TV is showing a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left then the Screen Lock otherwise known as Child Lock or Parental Control has been accidentally activated and your TV will not respond to commands from the remote control.

To resolve this and reactivate the TV simply press the (function or F) button and hold down the mute button on the remote at the same time for around 10 seconds. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired.

If your TV asks for a 4-digit code or password please enter 3308 or 6688 to unlock the screen or to reset any preset rating levels.

This extract is taken from an Apex Manual specific to the child lock function;

The Childlock function is designed to prevent chiIdren from watching TV. To activate: HoId down the F button and then press the MUTE button until the symboI “ ” appears on the screen. The TV will enter the Childlock mode.
Except for the “ ” symbol the screen becomes blue or black . To unlock the TV hoId down the F button and then press the MUTE button again.

Please Note:
The Childlock can be set or cancelIed only by the remote controI. After setting Childlock, secure the remote control in a safe place.

If this Tip has helped please do take time to indicate this by using the rating buttons on the page below.
