Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

19 Answers

My xbox 360 won't turn on!!!

I need your help, my son is freeking out because his 2 month old xbox 360 just won't even turn on. The orange lihgt on the black power box thing is on, but the system won't do anything at all! What should I do?? Why are there so many problems with these consoles, and why isn't microsoft replacing them or fixing them for free??? Thanks.

I just got my xbox for christmas. While I was playing rock band about a month ago, the instruments wouldn't connect and then it turned off. I tried again, but whenever I hit the power button nothing works. I've checked everything, but it is not working. Even the powercord is on but the console won't start.

  • RichieDUde93 Jan 25, 2009

I don't know what is wrong with this darn thing. It won't turn on or anything. I felt it was a little warm so I turned it off for a little while to cool it down. I unplugged it and held it in my hands feeling the nice warmth since it's the middle of winter. I put it down, plugged the cords back in, and pressed the power button. IT WON'T TURN ON! There can't be anything wrong with it, obviously. What happened to my Xbox? I do this same thing all the time and now all of a sudden it's got a problem? Stupid MIcrosoft, somebody should beat up the CEO of Microsoft (who happens to be a nerdy selfish **** anyway).

how are you turning it on? power button, or controller? try both ways. I wonder if they didn't have a line of faulty PSU's? check plug to wall and to power supply. Check the plug to the back of the console. Also try thishttp://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/s... Didn't work?http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_... Try that as well maybe the faceplate is not on just right for the power button to work.

Make sure that the power cord is plugged in very securely to the console.
Make sure that the metal pieces on the cord and in the console are clean.
Make sure that the 2 power cord pieces are secure.

My son's xbox 360 wouldn't come on either. I checked where he connected the wired controllers, and found that he must have reversed the input and jammed the copper contacts. I unplugged the unit, used a small screwdriver to separate the copper contacts, and the machine works fine now. The only unfortunate thing, is that he can' t use that particular input for a wired remote. I guess the wireless will have to do.

I know what to do.... it happened to me, but I fixed it. Ok you will need a peperclip for this to work. Take off the faceplate of the 360. And then what should have been the powerbutton, use the paperclip to hit it. It should turn on, then you can put the faceplate back on.

I have only 2 plug ins on one wall and my t.v. and stuff is on this other side so I use like 2 small extension cords that have like 3 plug ins on them and one of them must have been bad because my xbox randomly shut off last night and I was to tired to fix it and I plugged and un plugged it a lot and it would not turn on but I changed one of the outlets and it worked so if you use those try switching plug ins.

SOURCE: my xbox 360 won't turn on!!!

That means that the Power box is waiting for the console to be connected. if it does not work again then you can call xbox support to check the warranty of your xbox 360 then send it for repair.

I hope that will help you.

Usually warranties will only cover normal failure of a device. Since the damage was caused by user error (plugging it into the 220V outlet), you will most likely have to pay for the repair. If that is the case, it doesn't matter how long you have had the device, Microsoft will always repair them if you pay for it.

In other words, the warranty will cover manufacturer hardware errors while it is valid. It is Microsoft's way of saying that their device will work at least this long without problems or we will fix it.

Just call up Microsoft's XBox support line and ask them where to send it for repairs.

Good luck getting it fixed!

Xbox 360 won't turn on!! I was playing my xbox for all of 30 minutes, turned it off, went to turn it back on again an hour later, and nothing!! No red ring of death, no pop or spark, just nothing....

try this
I know its a little annoying but its useful trust me. The orange light usually means a problem with the power supply. This means WORST CARE SCENARIO you have to replace the power brick but you 99% dont have to get a new xbox.

My xbox 360 won't turn on!!!

When it says ORANGE on the Power box, that means that the Power box is waiting for the console to be connected, You might wanna try another power box if you have a friend or relative nearby, and if another power box does the same thing, then you can call xbox support to check the warranty of your xbox 360, then send it in for repairs

FYI:
The light on the power supply should be GREEN in order for the console to turn on

Xbox 360 burning cds

Its laser burn. I have had this. Ask your son if he has tipped the xbox 360 with a game in it as that can cause this. If not the tabs that hold the game in place are broken causing the disc to 'wobble'. If you get the bottom right quadrant illuminate red then contact me personally at: sauldaedalus007@yahoo.co.uk

Xbox 360

It you are not getting any error lights at all when you turn it on it is a power issue. What color lights are on the power supply when you plug it in (before powering the 360 on) and what color lights do you have after you try to power it on? Orange means the power supply is in stand-by mode or the plug is not correctly plugged into the system (when you try to power it on. Red means the power supply detected a fault, it is either too much current, to little current or overheated power supply. Plug the power unit directly into a wall outlet, no extension cords or power supplies. Has you son changed or played with the faceplate? Sometimes when you remove or change the faceplate they don't seat correctly and the power button on the faceplate does not contact the power switch under the faceplate. My guess would be an issue with the power supply so I would start there first.

Best,
Bob

Xbox not reading game

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I have tried a variety of things that occasionally have worked. Eject disk and pop it back in and then restart 360. Sometimes may require doing this a couple of times. If that doesn't work, try unplugging that thing in back with the orange light and replug it. Or simply, as it worked for my brother, just turn the 360 off and unplug the orange light thingy and don't play again until maybe a week or month, etc. He unplugged it for about 3 weeks and then it worked perfectly again. Sometimes the 360 just needs a little break. Even though this may be impossible for most to leave it alone for even a day, but its either you or your 360. make it live again!
