Nelson Sprinkler Rain Train Traveling Sprinkler will only go backwards , i have the arms going in the right direction...please help

If it's going backwards, and assuming you didn't take it apart and put it together wrong, then the arms aren't going in the right direction. Looking down from the top, my unit should be moving clockwise if it's set up correctly. In any case, switch it so the water pushes the arms in the other direction. the transmission is pretty straightforward - if it's going in the wrong direction then the arms are spinning in the wrong direction.

My John Deere traveling sprinkler is moving backwards all of a sudden. How do I get it to go forwards

The wheels are driven by the spinning of the water wand. Turning the tips so the wand spins either clockwise or counter clockwise will determine which direction your sprinkler will travel. If it's going backwards, turn the tips so the wand spins in the opposite direction it is spinning now.

Top has rattle in spin

there are 2 screws 1 at each side at the rear of the control panel. these screws are going through the end caps at the back. remove the screws and the control panel folds back. there are 2 brass clips holding the top and sides to the frame. remove the clips and the top and sides will just pull away from the frame.
