You'll need to use an administrator account to do this, click on start, go to computer right-click, choose manage, double click Services & Applications, then click on Services, highlight any one of the services then push P on your keyboard, now look for print spooler, right click and choose start.

"fatal print spooler error" error message

Completely uninstall the printer driver and install again. If this does not work, there is a corruption in the windows registry or in the print spooler cache files.

For a temporary workaround, disable print spooling. But, if you do, you will need to remember to never close an application you print from until printing is actually finished.

Cannot get Microsoft works to open in vista

If you stop the print spooler service...that should allow Works to open up.

  1. Open Computer Management.
  2. In the console tree, click Services.
    Where?
    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Services
  3. In the details pane, double-click Print Spooler.
  4. Do one of the following depending on the task you want to do:
Click Stop to stop the service.
Click Start to start the service.

  • To open Computer Management, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
  • When you stop the Print Spooler service, it might stop other dependent services.
  • The print spooler runs under the Local Computer system account by default.
  • You can also start and stop the Print Spooler service through a command-prompt command. For more information, see Related Topics.

Trying to install the HP Deskjet F2210 printer onto my Dell with windows XP everything loads except the printer spool. What do I do?

Restart the Print Spooler:

start-> run-> type services.msc-> scroll down to the print spooler service n hit start.
Verify that that the Print Spooler service, and all the services that it depends on, are correctly installed and running.
  • Open the Services Management Console (click Start, Run and enter services.msc).
  • Double-click the Print Spooler service to open its Properties window.
  • On the General tab, check that Startup type is Automatic.
  • Select the Dependencies tab.
  • Note all of the dependent services listed, then close the Print Spooler Properties window.
  • Repeat the above steps for the dependent services noted.
If any of the dependent services are missing or cannot be started, try uninstalling all installed printer drivers and then reinstalling them.
If this method cannot be completed or does not resolve the problem, try Method 2.
Method 2
Remove all Print Spooler service dependencies other than the Remote Procedure Call service.
  • Click Start, Run and enter sc config spooler depend= RPCSS (there must be a space after "=" but not before it.)
By removing the other dependencies the Print Spooler service should be able to run, but the printer functionality may be affected, and it may be necessary to reinstall the printer drivers.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

One of the most possible reason is related to Print Spooler service. Please check the "Print Spooler" service if its turned on. if its not you can turn it on. Here is the way to go Services screen
  • go to start menu then run and type "services.msc" then hit enter
  • locate the Print Spooler service in the services list
  • Change turn it on  switch to Automatic mode
Try reinstall
