How do i get the walking foot to glide onto the sewing machine

It sounds like you are trying to attach a walking foot to your machine. Usually when you install your waling foot the needle clamp screw pushes against the lever. This lever is spring loaded. To avoid fighting the spring you can lower the needle into the hole on the walking foot and then attach the foot to the ankle.

Pfaff 1475 manual

Not sure if your model is the creative 1475. The closest I can find at a service website of Pfaff is 1473. Check if this is similar to your model and it shows where the balance wheel goes.
