hold down the top button and the home screen button at the same time for about 15 seconds and then RELEASE!

That worked! Had the same problem. 3G just shut off (and not a low battery) and would not turn on. Tried plugging into both laptop and wall, but still nothing. But the hold down the 2 buttons solution worked! Thank you!

Anyone know why this happened though? Only a month old and have never dropped or damaged it.
