Question about BenQ FP531 15" LCD Monitor

FP531 Monitor flashes 'Benq'

I have had this monitor for a few years but have been having problems over the last month. It intermittently startes flashing. In order to rectify the problem I have to play around with the power cable. Then all is well maybe for only a minute or sometimes fine for 2 hours.

When powering on the word BENQ keeps flashing on the screen. At first i started hitting it and then the proper image would come on. When it started doing it while I was working, I brought it back to the store. It is 3 years old but my extended warrantee is good til september. Naturally it worked well there. I was told to update the driver. I did it 2 days ago. It worked beautifully yesterday but started again today! Any idea?

Check the caps for leaking/bulging tops first.
It can be power supply, backlight inverter circuits problems.

Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide:

Learn about bad caps:

Capacitors kit: he can make you a set of caps for you.
Or just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current, long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

ViewSonic 19" flat screen monitor goes black - intermittently

There could be a problem with your display card settings or the display card itself. If you are using Windows operating system, make sure that you have the monitor driver installed for that specific monitor. This is to ensure that Windows only allows settings for which your particular monitor was designed.
Let me know if I can assist you any further regarding this.
Best wishes,
