Panasonic 12 year old TV is making a clicking sound, when I turn it on, manually. The remote control cannot turn on or off TV, nor can I get any channels at all. What could be the problem?

SOURCE: Hissing sound from a Panasonic old TV...Sound and picture are OK.

If you disconnect or power off the converter box does the hiss go away?
If you connect a VCR or DVD player does it still have the hiss? We
need to isolate what source is causing the hiss if it is from the set or
if it is from the converter box.
When you turn the volume control down on the set, does the hiss
reduce in level? If mute stops it, it should reduce in level as you
turn the volume down. Then turn up the sound level control on
the converter box whether its a manual control or by remote. If you
can get a combination that minimizes the hiss and gets higher sound
level from the programming that may cure it.
I am not familiar with the converter box you are using. Are you using
Audio/Video cables from it to the set or is it coming out with coaxial cable
and used on a channel? If you are using a very old set with a tuner input
perhaps the fine tuning is out of adjustment.

This has nothing to do with the speakers.

Page 38 of the manual describes tuner operation. FM hiss usually indicates a weak FM signal or it's not tuned precisely. If the "ST" indicator is blinking and you select Mono does it get any better?

A 75-ohm FM antenna oriented horizontally will help bring in a stronger signal (page 29 and 73).

Loud hissing through rear (souround sound) speakers

I have the Sony Bravia KDL-46S4100. The high-picthed hiss drives me insane. I have a work around but not a fix. Go into your TV's menu and find BACKLIGHT. Adjust it from 1-9 with the house quiet and find what frequency of the hiss is the least annoying.

Sony Bravia high pitch hiss hissing sound high frequency
