How do I open the cabinet of a Gateway desktop 0028376807 ? made in 2002.

You have given the wrong number. Its ok though. There are several ways to remove the cabinets of desktops. Follow whichever suits you best:

If your sides and top of the desktop are all one piece: This leads to two solutions. Theres either a screw holding the case on, which will be found in the back of the desktop tower. If not, you must first pull off the front to slide it off.

If the side is not connected to the top: Screws will more likely than not be holding the cabinet on. Check the back, unscrew any screws that look like its holding the cabinet on. Then, slide the cabinet towards the back of the computer and pull off.


Please, if this doesnt help, give me the model number which should be on the front. usually 4-7 letters/digits.

EXAMPLE: Dell XPS850. This is a model number.

In order to do that you have to open the cabinet and remove the cable for DVD drive and use the same slot for memory

Gateway gt5220 has cmos checksum error - defaults loaded


Open the cpu cabinet cover then pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults.Then when you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or del or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then set bios settings.Let me know if you need further assistance.Thanks for using FixYa

My computer randomly will not power on. It doesnt work more than it does work. It will power on but will not fully boot up, monitor screen is blank and mouse does not power on. Light on front of tower...


Open the cpu cabinet cover then clean motherboard and parts. Reconnect RAM memory.Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then put it back reconnect both connection to harddrive.Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet cover. The comptuer is ringing everytime i cut it on and won't boot up


Open cpu cabinet then reconnect RAM memory . Reconnect both connection to harddrive. Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet. Pull processor and it's fan. How do i connect power on the hard drive in gateway 510


open ur cabinet door there r white color power slots take any one insert behind hdd u will find similar thing on one end of hdd.

First when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode.
If you are able to enter then go to start menu->control panel->display property ->settings.
Change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply and ok.
But if you are not able to see safe mode and other menu.
Then open cpu cabinet .
Refix RAM memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes.
Reattach all connection harddrive.
Open processor fan and processor remove dust from all parts.
Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet.
Remove PCI cards if any.
After all above still same then change RAM then try.

My computer will not boot. The power will come on and the cooling fans will just continue running.


Open cpu cabinet.
Refix ram memory.
Pull cmos cell from motherbord 10 minutes then refix it.
Remove pci cards from motherbord if any .
Clean dust from all parts.
Open processor fan and processor refix both.
Make sure motherbord is not ground with cabinet.
Check motherbord in outside of cabinet.
Reconnect all connection to harddisk.

MY GATEWAY 702GE DESKTOP TURNS ON BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. THE MONITOR WILL NOT TURN ON AND THERE ARE NO BEEPS.


First open cpu cabinet.
Refix yopur ram memory.
Then pull cmos cell from motherbord for 10 minutes so all settings of motherbord are defaults.
Then check .
If still face problem then remove all PCI cards from PCI slot.
Pull motherbord from cabient then check in outside of cabinet some times motherbord is grounding with cabinet.
Also pull processor and its fan then clean dust from all parts.
Also when you power up the computer press F8 key then go to diaply proeprty and change screeen resolution to 1024*768 .

Gateway gt4016 won't boot. Fan runs but nothing


open cpu cabinet and pull Ram and refix it.
Aslo reattcha llconnection to mother bord.
Pull cmos cell for 15 minutes so all bios setings are set to defaults.

Motherboard - disable onboard graphics


1. open your cabinet.
2. remove the battery form the motherboard.
3. wait 15 seconds and then replace the battery again.
4. connect your screen to the pci ex card.

now it should work.
