How to Boot Sony Vaio VGN-S460 Laptop without CD/DVD ROM and With bootable USB

If the BIOS does not have the USB as one of the boot options then you cannot boot up with an USB memory stick.
In this case you need to replace the CD/DVD drive with a new one.

You need to buy the same kind of memory and make sure your laptop support that amount of memory and any BIOS settings are updated for it.

I need a video card for a sony vaio pcg-3a1l. I have display problems when it gets hot later the display works fine. I opened the laptop to clean it- it wasn't that bad. I would like to replace the video...

The graphics cards are actually integrated onto the motherboard and are unfortunately not inter-changeable like desktops. Your next option would be to purchase a new/working motherboard. Good luck!

I cannot find the second memory slot on the sony vgn-a290 laptop.

The second slot is under the keyboard. There are three small clips at the front of the keyboard. You can release them with a small screw driver.

VGN-NR220E won't boot up

Bad memory can cause a system to hang as you describe.
If it is accessible, remove the memory cards, swab them with cotton swabs and alcohol and try it again.
Don't put the cards back in while still damp if you use rubbing alcohol.
