Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I just upgraded my dsl with Qwest and received an Actiontec PK5000 modem to use as my wireless network. Now my Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300 will not establish a connection with the PK5000. I have changed the SSID and Network Key on the Wireless Printer Adapter, but it still will not establish a connection. I spent an hour on the phone with Qwest and we changed the Security Settings on the modem from WPA2 to WEP. That did not work. We changed the Security Setting back to WPA-PSK. Again, the wireless printer adapter still will not establish a connection with the Actiontec PK5000. Thanks!

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: tryiing to set up a wireless printer

You'll probably need to log in to the router with a computer. Usually opening your internet browser, and typing http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 will bring up a router config page. You may need to do an internet search to find the default password if you haven't changed it. Once in, you'll find a wireless config page which will have all of this info.

SOURCE: Laptop can't connect to DSL-G604T

You need to configure your router and use WPA encryption so that all accessing device can connect to it.

The obvious reason why the dell laptop can't connect is because of the WPA encryption set. It is different compared with what your router is actually broadcasting: WPA2.

So you can choose one of the 2 things to alter. Change your router's WPA2 encryption to WPA or change your Dell's setup to WPA2.

SOURCE: Setting up wireless printer Brother

Log in to the management console, if the settings have changed you will have to reset the router to the most basic settings then start it up again, do this by turning to the back of the router, most routers have a pin sized hole in the back, stick a pin down that hole and hold it steadily pushed down for 5 to 10 seconds, release and wait 5 to 10 seconds and try again, hope this helps..

SOURCE: cant figure tha wpa -

Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the Playstation, laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the playstation, laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

The ACTIONTEC GT124, M1000 and PK5000 Routers are not compatible with wireless-enabled all-in-one printers. These routers cannot connect to your all-in-one printer because they do not support the multicast protocol. Contact your router supplier for additional assistance and to determine if your router will be able to support the muticast protocol in the future.

Most device/routers/wireless devices that were specifically used by a different provider are not interchangeable unless this specific device can be given a firmware upgrade. If you were previous provider was Qwest, you probably had DSL service and now you have cable? Your best option is to purchase a new wireless device you can attach to your cable modem through Comcast. Good luck!

Apple user attempting to fix dad's dell laptop windows xp home edition

I'm confused because you say your trying to make a lan connection on the dell laptop but your connecting it via firewire into a DSL modem. doing this method would be a WAN connection and not a LAN connection. To make a lan connection you need to connect the laptop via network cable (or wireless connection) to a router that is connected to your actiontek dsl modem.

I can help you connect the laptop to the internet but 1st i need to know if your trying to connect it to a router or did you want to do a wan connection from the dsl modem.

Thanks,
Brad Nelson
