Question about Nintendo Wii Console

2 Answers

My wii will play nearly every game I've ever owned or tried to play with the exception of two or three (the metroid series especially). On these select games it says it cannot read the disc, but it'll read everything else. My wii isn't hooked up online, and I have version 4.2U right now. Thanks for any help.

I have actually returned one of these games for a brand new one, which also didn't work, they were both brand new. The other game I just bought today, and doesn't work either. First instance I upgraded it that day and it still didn't work. Everything else does.

It's a problem with the disk itself, not the game on it - the disk isn't well pressed and the laser doesn't bounces very well of it. If there's  even a small amount of dust on the lens then that faint signal is lost so the only thing you can do is to clean the lens using one of those cleaner disks.

Base from the description of your problem that your WII can read other games aside from those there;s a bi chance that those games are bad and may need replacement , I will also ask you to hook the WII for internet connection and do a software update if there;s any because sometimes this has also something to do with the WII software.

Will not read any of my wii games

You can try Nintendo's Wii lens cleaning kit. Also, some older Wii units have trouble with dual layer discs, which pack more info onto a disk (Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Metroid Prime use dual layer discs). If your Wii is having trouble reading a dual layer disc you can try Nintendo's Wii lens cleaning kit for that too.

If after cleaning its lens your Wii still can't read any disks then you'll want to contact Nintendo.

Good Luck!

My Wii will not play any games except my new used game Metroid Prime 3. It used to play all my games, but it does not read them anymore. Are there ways to clean the console?

Hi there

From what you have said it sounds like you have the DISK READ ERROR

The main cause is Hardware failure due to overheating or just simple wear & tear.

You will need to perform simple maintenance to your console

You can send your Wii to Nintendo to fix this. If your in warranty its free. If not the repair cost would be $150 and a wait time of 4-6 weeks

The other solution is what I did and the way more and more gamers are turning nowadays is a Good Wii Repair Guide that shows you how to fix the problem yourself. I have never had a problem with this one so far for over a year, well worth it. Its my most recommended guide online.

Well this is all the help and advice I have on this so good luck.

You can get back to gaming

Please come back and rate my post if you find it useful

Many thanks

Why wont metroid prime 3 work on my wii

it is most likely that you hav a corrupted disc. it is either scratched on the bottom of the disc (known as the data side) or the data on the disc itself is corrupted.

When i play metroid prime it says the data is cruppted

Sounds like you may have a Bad Memory Card. Is it doing it to all of your other games as well? If so, then try getting another memory card and doing it with that one. You may have a messed up disc as well, this could cause the save function to be screwed up. Try using the card is the Second Memory Card slot instead of the first one, you may have a bad Memory Card Slot as well. If none of this works, try taking your game to a friends house and using their Wii/Gamecube to see if the problem still exists. If so, your issue is either the game or the Memory Card.

Three games on wii play won't won't work

This is actually the "Wii Play" game. You must unlock each game by successfully completing the previous game. In this case, I believe that you must play, and finish, Billiards or Laser Hockey to unlock Fishing, then complete Fishing to play Charge!, and so on.

Good luck, and enjoy the games!

Wii makes squeaking/chirping noise

This is a hardware failure. Sending it Nintendo is the only option. Unless you think you have the skills to repair it yourself. Here is the link to Nintendo

If you want to repair it yourself you need a wii dvd drive. Any version works.
