Hi,

Just chk if its a trial version and chk if the trial period is completed.

There is an advetistment like this i dont know whethe you have the advert or something else, thats a pop up, just close that window. dont click anythng inside that window, be safe.

Or

But this problem does happen every so often and seems to just go away after a short while if you turn it off for a couple of days and then turn it back on.

At the top of your IE, click Tools and then move your mouse over Manage Addons and then select Enable or Disable Addons.

This will bring up a list of both your Enabled and Disabled addons, just scroll to the bottom and you will see Norton Confidential Tool Bar, disable it and leave it that way for a day or two and then just re-enable it.

You can try just disabling it, rebooting the computer and then turning it back on but it may need a day or two. It's something with Nortons that causes the issue and it's has nothing to do ith something you might have done.

The Fraud Monitoring actively checks every web page you go to against Nortons database of known phishing and hacker sites and also checks them against known good sites to help detect when you might be on a website that does not belong to the company it says it does.

This means there can be issues on Nortons end that makes the addon think something is wrong that is why the problem seems to just fix it's self. I run into it only once or twice a year and it's not that big of a deal.

First time it happened I spent a ton of time on the phone with customer support and all the do is have uninstall and reinstall Norton and it doesn't fix the problem.

The person on the phone did not even know how to turn it on and off through the Addon Manager and I had to tell him about it because I found it on my own.

You are not any less secure from viruses with the addon turned off, it just won't be able to check the web sites you visit against their database of known phishing/hacker websites but Norton will still protect you from Viruses and hack attemps.

Any time you accidently end up on a bad site, and it happens to everyone any time the mis-type a web address, you can click on the Options tab to the Right of the Fraud Monitoring status and report a site as bad to have norton investigate it.

More then once the addon has locked down my internet access because I accidently mis-typed a web address and was taken to a hacking site.

The site was in their database so the monitor recognized it, shut off the internet access, prompted me to close IE and run a scan to make sure nothing got through.

Nothing have has gotten through but it's nice to have Norton lock down my computer before I am over run by pop ups just because I mis-typed something.

Would be nice if they would make it a crime to register a web address that is similar to normal sites that are nothing but scams.

Good Luck.

Can't turn on power to desktop

Simple power hack, to do this, kind of like hot wiring your computer.

Turn the power on at the wall, Flick the switch on the back of the computer (if there is one on the back) to the on position, make sure the cable is plugged in, and turn the power off at the wall, hold the power switch on the front and turn the power on at the wall.

This will cause the power to jump across the switch, causing the computer so sound a bit like a motorbike being started.

The power will come on it will turn over click and go off. After this turn the switch of at the back of the computer, and turn it back on, and the computer will boot up.

The first bit of this is just charging the capacitors in the power supply, the second bit is turning your computer on.

When i turn my syncmaster 2233 computer, it turns on but it makes a beeping sound alot of times and it won't stop.. I usually fix it by turning the power cable on and off and it will stop the beeping...

Remove the memory (RAM). Clean its contact points by an eraser. Fix it. If it does not work, try using another slot. If it still does not work, replace it with new.

My gateway 540 gr start for 5 seconds and turn off, the fan starts to then turn off.

Disconnect everything except for the power to the motherboard. If you turn on the computer and everything still turns off, then try another known working power supply. If the machine stays turned on then connect power to your drives one at a time with the computer off each time to see which drive is the culprit.

If everything still turns off then reseat the CPU and the memory and if it still turns off then that means the motherboard is bad and it would need to be replaced.

Power light on front of computer is flashing - quick blinks

Most desktops require you to hold the off or power button down for at least 5 seconds, or more, before it will actually turn of the power. If you don't you won't get the desktop to turn off properly and when you try to turn it on again, you will get a message to the effect that the PC was not properly turned off last time, and it will give you the option to turn it on in Safe Mode, Safe with DOS prompt, or Safe with networking or ... finally, normal mode. If all you did was not turn the power off holding the button for a minimum of 5 seconds, then turning it on normaly is okay to do.

My IBM 8183 automatically turn off while i turning it on!!

this is standard on most IBMs, when they are setup in the bios to not turn on after powerloss. you must wait for the on, then off to occur, then you can turn it on. The fan in the computer is probably loose, or possibly old, if not its normal.

Wont turn on

your power supply is faulty or if youve set your comp to hibernate and it loses power it battles to turn back on . If so turn off at wall socket and watch battery light on the mother board , when it switches off turn plug back on.
