This could be an issue with either the monitor itself or the computer it is being connected to. The first step is to connect it to another computer if at all possible. This will determine if the screen itself is working. If it does not work with another computer, I would say it is time for a new monitor as it is almost guaranteed to cost more to fix than to replace.

If the monitor works with another computer the issue lies within you computer and is most likely an issue with the video card. The best bet would be to put another video card in place of the one currently in the unit, or one into the unit if a designated card does not exist. Plug the monitor back in and see if it works. If the problem still is not resolved or you are uncomfortable doing this, please visit a repair shop to avoid damaging any components.

Gateway FPD 1730 (mfg June 2004) On start-up, monitor flashes bios screen for less than half a second, then flashes the Windows XP logo for less than half a second and then stays black, no image. No...

All support is finished for XP years ago. The system is 13 years old and well past it expected life. Average is 8 to 10 years on a shop bought unit like Gateway, 12 years on a custom build.

I am thinking you probably have a dry joint on the board behind the switch as holding the switch makes the monitor work.

My advice though is a new computer running Windows 10, technology moves on in hardware and software.

Dell monitor flashing green power button black screen.

Your computer is in sleep mode, a low power mode that conserves power by turning off the screen and hard drive.

Push the power button on the system and the computer will resume.

If you don't like this feature, you can turn off sleep mode in the power options in Control Panel

Hello i have a 19 inch LG M197 WDP monitor/tv, when i switch it on the screen is white with a little gray bock that flashes and slowly moves across the top of the screen reading v3.02.0 which i presume is...

I also had an LG M197WDP tv/Monitor with the same problem. It comes straight on when plugged in, but with the blank screen and scrolling version number across the top.
The solution:
1. Use the remote control (check batteries first)
2. Point at the working TV and press either MENU or EXIT
3. Static should be seen on the screen.
4. Switch to standby using the remote, by preesing POWER button.
5. Switch back on using the POWER button.
All should then be working normally

When I connect power to my Dell E198FP monitor, the power button flashes green and there is a small chirping noise and it won't display anything. It will also not allow me to power on/off the monitor but...

This is a failure of the power supply in the monitor. It can be easily fixed by replacing a pair of failed 680 microfarad 16 volt capacitors. If you have a friend who is handy with a soldering iron they will be readily apparent as failed since the top will "bulge". I just put this monitor back together and didn't write down the designators, unfortunately. This is the second monitor I have repaired with this failure...apparently the value is not terribly critical, just don't use caps with a lower voltage rating. I actually just replaced them with a pair of 100 microfarad 50 volt caps since it was what I happened to have on hand and the monitor worked fine once repairs were complete.

It is more likely to have problem in the power supply section, look inside for bad caps first then post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
