I have a similar problem. I was stitching a jeans hem and suddenly the needle broke and it started whirring and made a funny noise and burning smell. Quickly switched it off. Tried swithing it on again after a while. Changed the needle and tried to sew again and now it will just not stitch at all. Please help.

I am a swimwear designer and just got a juki ddl 8300n did I pick a good machine? How can I adjust the machine for a more stretchy stitch?! What number should my stitch dial be on to get a stretch?

Perhaps a manual would be helpful:

File JUKI DDL 8300N Instruction Manual pdf

You should probably contact the manufacturer with questions. Hopefully, you did some thorough research before purchasing this machine. From the info I found, it appears to be a straight stitch only machine. I don't know anything about this machine, but I would be hesitant to purchase a straight stitch machine for sewing swimwear. Usually, swimwear needs a stretch stitch or zig-zag capability. Just my thoughts...

Juki 8300N

Dear Rosemarie,

Make sure you have threaded the machine from right to left, it sounds like the needle thread is trapped under the lower looper thread and cannot form a stitch.........start the threading over from scratch like this:

  1. Lower Looper
  2. Upper Looper
  3. Left Needle
  4. Right Needle
Is there a diagram for how to thread on the inside of the door ?

Follow that slowly and carefully to make sure you have not missed any thread guides on the way, as each one needs to be followed through to ensure correct tension and thread progression.

Juki industrial sewing machine. Machine will start sewing but after three stitches it stops.

You may need to adjust your tension dial with your fabric you are using and kind of thread, also adjust to thickness of fabric. Always use good sharp needles with your sewing and keep machine clean and oiled.

Make sure you are threaded correctly. Also be sure that your bobbin is sitting in the casing correctly. If the timing is right and the hook is catching, the thread may not be pulling through correctly. Clean your machine as well. Make sure your tension spring is clean and doesn't need to be tuned up.

My juki 8700 h frays thread while trying to sew

Hello Daniel, I suggest you start with a new needle. Back off the needle thread tension and the bobbin thread tension to a minimum and see how it sews. If it does not ravel the thread, you can increase the tensions until you acquire the stitch you want.

The stitches wont interlock. We have threaded it

The first thing to check is that you have the correct needle for the machine. This machine is actually the same as the Singer model 20-U machine, which is a semi industrial machine. When you broke the first needle, you could have knocked the needle bar out of time. You can test this by inserting a new needle and lower it a little (about 16th") and try to manually pick up the thread. If it does pick it up, then put some fabric in and rotate the machine slowly by hand and see if it makes the stitches. If so, then the needle bar will have to be adjusted, or you are using the wrong sized needle. If you want, you can contact me at rtarkington2@cfl.rr.com and I will walk you through it.

I bought a second hand Juki industrial machine , model DDL 5550-7, but struggle to get the tension of the stitches right. where do you set the lower stitches tension

upper tension sets the lower thread tension (upper thread is what you see on the underside of the fabric). Bobbin tension is for the thread you see on the top of the fabric

I have a Juki MO 3716 and I cannot thread it. Please help. It has four threads.

I also own a Juki MO3716. It is a five thread not a four as it has three lower looper threads. Two are fed through the front, just follow the color codes and the threading diagram on inside plate that you lower to see the threads, the third is threaded through the back and around the left side. I can send email with picture of diagram if needed. the other two threads are for the two top needles. This machine is a true safty stitch with the overedge row of serging and an inner chain stitch row for secure seaming. You can run this machine quite nicely with only three thread ( one inside needle and the two front loopers. If you need further held email me at wanmacinnes@eastlink.ca
