Then i requested talk through to seup 'wireless' connection. All was going well until i tried to connect and got message to enter WEP Password! Tried the WAP KEY No. on the back of the router but no success. Still no answer to problem. Please help. Thanks. Rob.

As long as the PS3 connects to the TV properly you can do this by creating or accessing a wireless network from the router, that your PS3 will receive the signal from and display on your TV. A gaming console will prompt you for a password to the wireless network you want to associate it with if you try to use any internet features on a game or interactive dvd. Sometimes this can be done on the consoles main menu screen before you attempt to connect through any media.
From a home computer you can view the options of your wireless network, in my case, a windows operating system - by click your start menu, opening control panel, and selecting network and sharing center. Here you can manage your networks and create homegroups or networks.
If there is a password on your router that you can't remember, I have had success in retrieving the number to customer service for the brand of my router - by calling my internet service provider. In your case you would want to contact Vontage if you don't have the password.
Hope this helps.
Siemens Speedstream 4100 is just a modem, if you want to connect to the internet wireless you will need to set up your speedstream modem with a wireless router.
It can work with almost all the wireless routers available in the market, but I would recommend a Linksys wireless router.
To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router. To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: - 1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable. 2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address. 3. Enter the router setup, login and password 4. Change the admin password 5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast. 6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA). 7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router. 8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings. 9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router. 10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
the siemens speedstream 4200 is a DSL modem/Router which doesn't have wireless connection. So even tough if you have a computer equiped with a wireless adapter, you will not be able to connect wirelessly because the siemens 4200 doesn't act as wireless access point.
You may need next time to check first if the modem/router to buy support wireless (wifi g or n) and make sure that it's not only a modem, it should be also a router.
i attached here some references for you from the top brands:
1. Linksys DSL modem/Router with wireless N: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/MEA/en/products/WAG120N
2. Linksys DSL modem/Router with Wireless G:
You can find other brands as Dlink, Netgear ...
Sounds like it might be that your router has gone bad. I would try hooking your computer to another router to see if it's your router or not. Or perhaps, hook another computer to your router and see if you still have the same problem with that computer. Either way, it might indicate that your router is malfunctioning in some way. Also, you might consider hooking up without the "wireless" router (directly to a modem via an ethernet or USB cable). Believe me, I know how such things can be very annoying sometimes, as I've had a few problems of my own. Hope you discover what the problem actually is and get it all straightened out real soon.
You need to purchase a wireless router. The router will have 5 ports on the back, one in and 4 out. The wire that you have going from your modem to your computer will go to the "in" port on the router. The out ports can be used for wired connections, and the wireless antenna will connect to any wireless computers.
Any computer that you want to connect wirelessly to your new router will need to be wireless-ready. For a desktop computer, you will need to buy and install a wireless PCI network card. Most laptops have built-in wireless.
You can buy a wireless router at most "big box" stores, like Best Buy, Office Depot, even WalMart sometimes carries them. A wireless router will cost between $75 and $150.
i have just solved this problem on the SE 587, hope it works for you.
1) in internet explorer type 192.168.1.1, which should bring up your router settings - then select "wireless" and then "basic wireless settings" - under "auto channel" set it to "disable" and the set "wireless channel" to "1" , then "save settings" - my pc briefly went offline and quickly came back.
2) when setting up the connection on the wii you need the code from the bottom of the router - make sure you have "caps lock" ON on the wii when you set up.
3) now everything works perfectly on the wii - you dont even need the pc on! just the router.
There is one ethernet connection to the modem which supports one computer. I have this device with my ATT Yahoo service.
This simplest however possibly undesirable option would be to take turns using the single connection.
I added a router between the modem and my computers and I can wire up to 4 computers to the router connected to the modem.
WIreless routers (as was mine) often have 4 wired ports for multiple machines connected by wire and can accomodate additional machines wirelessly.
The first set of answers you can probably give me to assist you is the make and model of the two computers you want to connect as well as the name of your internet service provider or even better a link to their help/support web site.
If you decided to connect them with a wire could you place a wire safely (like along a wall to connect both computers)?
Second option is connect wirelessly one or both computers the information already provided.
The answer to the above question will affect the router you choose to purchase to connect the machines.
If necessary there is a means to connect the second machine to the first and the first to the internet without a router however unless you already have the hardware and are willing to have the first machine on for the second to use the internet the cost of parts for this solution will likely be the same as for the router and it is not very flexible if you want to add another machine.
I would be happy to analyze the above alternatives and provide you a recommendation to move forward -- however to do so I need you to add a comment to this request with the information about your computers and your Internet service provider. and whether or not a wire only solution works for you. Look forward to the receiving the information and providing you some options.
