Need operating system help for Dell 433/l

Yes, sorry Bryan. Sounds like the hard drive on that computer finally failed. Since the machine is so old, you'd have to purchase an IDE Hard Drive which you'll probably have to purchase online. Secondly, you'd have to do a full reinstall of Windows on this new drive. Lastly, you'll have to locate an install the software that was controlling your furnaces. Sounds like an awful lot of work. I wish you the best of luck.

> message is .... one hard drive is non RAID and the other is fine

Is that REALLY the exact wording of the message???

Disconnect the disk-drive(s).
Buy another disk-drive (less than $50) and install Windows onto it.
Then, attach the existing drives, and copy your files from the "old" disk to the "new" disk.

My computer runs so slow and cant play my games on count of it. It needs cleaned up bad and i dont know how to do it. Please help me.

Backup all your files (E-mail, address book, music, license-keys for purchased software),
writing either to DVD-recordable disks, to an USB memory-stick, or to an external disk-drive.

Then, reinstall Windows, "wiping" everything from your disk-drive.
Run "Windows Update" (repeatedly) to get all the latest security-updates.
Reinstall anti-virus software.
Reload your files.
Reinstall the purchased software.
Reinstall the free software (Adobe Reader? WinAmp?).

To Whom it may concern: MY GOAL IS TO BLOW AWAY THE ENTIRE DELL VOSTRO 1000 INTERNAL DISK AND REIMAGE USING ORIGINAL CD'S SENT WITH ORIGINAL PURCHASE. BACKGROUND: Wife's PC was running slow and I...

Start the computer.
Select the "old" system, and then repeatedly press F8,
until you see the Windows Start-Up Menu (white text over a black background).
Choose Start In Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
At the command-prompt, enter 'FORMAT C:' to "wipe" 100% of the files from the disk-drive.
When it completes, turn the computer off.
Turn the computer on, and boot from those original "System Restore" CDs.
It will load Windows onto your now-empty disk-drive.

In my system c drive is out of memory with out doing format can i increase my c drive"s memoty

The only way is to purchase another internal disk-drive, connect it, and move some of your documents from your old disk-drive to the new disk-drive.

Delete all files/folders from the 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP' (not from 'C:\WINDOWS') folder.

Run the "Disk Cleanup" accessory, to remove some unnecessary files.

Empty the Recycle Bin.

you dont need the windows sp2 disk. all you need to do is go to:

there you can download windows sp2. this way you will not loose anything. this is the safest way.

Forgotten password

well try this, maybe u will get lucky.

Try to login as administrator and leave the password empty.

If you can login that way, then you can reset her password.

If not, there are tools out there, even free ones using a floppy disk and linux, that will boot up the PC and reset the password off a floppy disk. Let me know and I will be glad to help furthur.

G'luck

Istalling windows

Because you have a dual boot system, you have two 'C' drives, which in fact is a good idea if you get a system failure on the drive you are using, you can select the other and still view any files on the other drive through my computer.

f using XP, right click my computer, then properties, then click advanced tab, then startup and recovery listing click settings, at the top system startup, select the default operating system, then click EDIT button, then delete the value that points to the other hard drive more than likely listed as disc1, disk 0 will be the one you have connected as master boot hard drive

After i have reinstalled windows, i have a problem

you should have formatted the drive first before you installed windows. But then you need all of the software drivers. XP is good, but not that good with drivers.
The files you are looking for will not be in add and remove.
