It is the colorwheel bearings going slowly due to excessive dust and heat. remove the lamp and push in the switch actuator on the lamp door frame. turn the projector on and see the colorwheel spin in the lamp housing window. does the noise happen when the wheel spins and stops when the wheel stops? let the switch actuator go. does the noise stop? it's the colorwheel (pn: 525-0146-00). you can get it through an infocus service center. try av solutions in ny. www.avsolutionsny.com

No it's not the fan but it is most likely the fan driver chip is failing and is pwm driver and when it can no longer supply sufficient current it will cause the field coils of the fan to make a squealing sound and almost assuredly the fan is not spinning fast enough to provide proper cooling.

Also if the color wheel bearings were so bad that they are "squealing" the color wheel would never be able to spin up to phase lock, which in turn would inhibit the projector's lamp from striking.

We have an Infocus Screenplay 4805 projector. Our colour wheel has broken and we don't seem to able to purchase a replacement part from anywhere. Any help much appreciated!

Same problem... The manufacturer actually does not sell this part. You must simply purchase one off of craigslist or a broken projector and fix it with the parts. Here is a website that shows you how. http://home.comcast.net/~jexkids/Ebay/colorwheel/How_to_replace_Color_Wheel.htm

My Infocus 4805 is just showing the INFOCUS logo and not showing the picture from the TV. all connections are correct but no signal....help

Powering On
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
  • The Lamp
  • If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
  • Color Wheel
  • If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.
