Beam Problem w/Clie

I recently bought my Mom a Sony Clie PEG-SJ20 for Mother's Day.
I set it up for her and attempted to beam a few things I had on
my PDA (Handspring Visor Edge) and got the message "could not
find receiving handheld computer".  I know my PDA works b/c I had
a colleague beam something to my using her Sony Clie PEG-SJ22,
and I beamed something back to her just to be sure.  The PDA my
Mom has works well otherwise.  BTW the beam receive selection
under preferences is checked.

Any hints as to what else I can try the next time I see her.
We've been problem solving via the phone and email since Mother's
Day weekend.

I had the same problem with the same model. Just do a "soft reset" (push the
"reset" button on the back).

Another thing to consider is whether you were beaming in a
brightly-lit area.  My visor won't beam in direct light.

Thanks we'll try to sync with another Palm.  Trouble is it looks like she's the
first of her group of friends to have one.  She says they are all looking over
her shoulder with envy.  She really needed something to manage all her Bridge
games!

This is a famous problem with the Clie.  A soft reset fixes it.

It'd be interesting to see if you mom can receive beams from another
handheld.
Mebbe your two just refuse to talk?

I have seen a problem where I was unable to beam a certain DB from a visor
to a tungsten, though it worked fine from a visor to a clie or a clie to the
tungsten.
you may have to swap prcs the old fashioned way, through email.  ;-)
