Alternate reverse and forward several times. Graphite powder or pencil lead along the engaged gear teeth may help. There is probably a "wad of paper" underneath where you can't see it. Be brave and take the shred head apart - pay careful attention so you'll know how to put it back together.

Does not shredder middle of paper

First, make sure you turn your power to the shredder off. Take off the top of the shredder and turn it over. Is there paper stuck between the shredding wheels? I had to carefully pull this paper out with a set of tweezers. Be careful, as the shredding wheels are very very sharp!

Good luck,

Paul

Paper shredder doesn't move due to too much adhesive paper - how to fix it

Before trying anything I suggest, make sure your shredder isn't plugged in.
You will need to remove the adhesive from the rollers. You will need to use a glue solvent on the shredder rollers, something like Goo Be Gone. Personally, I still use Ronsonol Lighter Fluid In the image below I've outlined the supplies you'll need to, hopefully, clear your jam.

25346531-f3timxio4jyou4u0bydnlgfi-2-0.jpg Without disassembling your shredder, the best way to clear your jam is to use Rosonol Lighter Fluid (3), tweezers (4), and dental picks (5).
  1. Make sure you are working in a well ventilated area. Separate the shredder from its shredded paper collection tub.
  2. Turn the shredder head upside down so that the paper output is facing up.
  3. Pour Rosonol lighter fluid on both sides of the rollers near where they come together.
  4. Use dental picks and tweezers to dislodge stuck paper pieces
  5. Turn Shredder head over and repeat steps 3 and 4
  6. Move power switch to the "Off" position
  7. Plug power cable back in
  8. Move power switch to "Rev" (reverse) position, if still stuck move power switch to the "Fwd" position, repeat twice
  9. Repeat steps 1 - 8 until the rollers move freely
Once the rollers are moving smoothly you need to oil the rollers.

Paper stuck in feed slot

The usual process is to run the shredder in reverse, and the half shredded paper comes back out of the slot. I guess you have tried this and it did not work? Next step is to dismantle the cover and clean out the shredder blades with a small screwdriver and/or tweezers.

Omnitech shredder model ot--exc10a , shredder runs but when insert paper to shred it stops, pull out paper and it runs non stop!

Sounds like there's blockage between rollers and it also jams the sensor so auto function stops working. You will need to clear out as much jammed paper as you can using tweezers. Inspect the centre of the feed opening, there should be sensor which must be clear of blockages and moving freely. So clear any stuck paper with tweezers, in addition you can soak any jammed paper with WD-40 and unit should be good as new. Although if sensor arm is damaged then replacement of such sensor is unavoidable.

Paper stuck in feed slot

Try running in reverse. If that doesn't help try clearing as much as you can using tweezers. Last option soak the stuck paper with excessive amount of lubricant, it will loosen and soften the blockage and should clear out

My shredder stopped working in the middle of a shred. I have cleaned all shredding from it, but it still refuses to run. Is there a thermo cut off switch, and if so, where?

  • Shut off the shredder. Unplug it and let in cool down for up to one hour. This will work if the shredder has stopped due to excessive use.

Check to see if the shredder is jammed. This is the most common cause of shredder problems. Click the power switch to reverse, which should clear a minor jam. If not, set the shredder to auto, and then to reverse again until the jam clears.

  • 3

Clear extremely stubborn paper jams by grabbing the stuck paper and gently pulling it out. If smaller pieces of paper cause the jam, shut off the shredder and unplug it. When it cools down, carefully use a pair of tweezers to remove the paper bits.

  • 4

Determine if the power supply to the shredder is working properly. If the power supply is cold, use an alternative source of electricity for your shredder. If it is warm, there may be a problem with the shredder itself. Call your office machine repair shop or the shredder manufacturer for assistance.

Sharpen or oil the blades. Shredder blades need to be oiled on a regular basis to keep your machine in proper working order. Get oil made specifically for shredder blades from an office supply store.

Paper is stuck on the end of my shredder. I've tried wetting it and pulling with tweasers. Its stuck like glue.

If you cant get it out with your "tweezers"...then you will have to open it up to gain access to inside to clear paper jam.

Fellowes 3011001 shredder stopped shredding. tried to remove shredded pieces but could not.

First, try switching to reverse, alot of times, stuck paper will come back out in reverse. Then unplug the unit, turn the head upside down and with a small flathead screwdriver, knife, or tweezers, dig out pieces of paper. It takes alot of effort but by digging small pieces out, a little at a time, you can get most of the paper free.
