I have 4 hard drives and its not booting, i think two of the drives are faulty and i need to save the data on them.

Yes it is a netgear NAS NV.

    thanks

The drives have been set up in X-Raid, so i would still like to salvage the informatin on the two faulty drives. I would like to know if that is possible.

I was told by a technician that the drives were both faulty, i had only found one of them faulty.

Can anyone help with salvaging the data on the drives, it is data i really need to get back.

    thanks

How many hard drive do you have in your NAS?

Here I assume that you are talking about the Netgear/Infrant ReadyNAS NV? Am I right?

The drives are set up in "X-Raid"...does that make it any more likely that the data can be salvaged...???

OK, first thing first. The OS of the ReadyNAS NV is NOT on the hard disks but on an embeded flash memory. So a bad HD should not prevent you from booting the unit. Have you tried using the RAIDar software to detect and connect to your ReadyNAS?

Secondly, if you were using all fours disks as one big volume, unfortunately, chances are very slim that you can salvage any data because the system is tolerant for only one disk failure (RAID 5). Having two disks fail is a very bad luck!

Hope this helps.

With 4 drives, X-RAID is using RAID 5 redundancy. This means that it will tolerate only one drive failure. The question is: How many drive does the NV report as defunct? If it is only one, then you may try to replace the defective drive and the NV should sych every thing back up during the boot process (this may take several hours).

Need ip address for Buffalo LS-WXL Series S/N 65850124513392

To find the IP load the NAS Navigator from the Buffalo web site. It scans the whole network for Buffalo NAS and lists them all. Make sure the firewall is not blocking the software.

It is also available for MAC.

SUS-201 disk connection

I would say try it to connect it first to your pc to make sure it works, if you can access your files and everything. Then the second thing i would advice is to back up all your files. (copy them to a safe location other than that hard drive) and format the HD to NFTS file system, test it by adding a video, plug everything and make sure your configuration in your USB station is working good. Hope that helps.

Msi u100 018us notebook says boot failure-press any key to continue---------and PXE-E61 media test failure check cable-------and PXE-MOF exiting PXE ROM wont let me boot computer can it be the hard drive...

It definetly can be the hard drive and most likely is. If you know how to get into BIOS then I would suggest going in there and seeing if BIOS can detect your HDD. If it cant then it definetly is your HDD. If it is detecting it then you might have a bad sector on the HDD that is corrupting the boot sequence for your operating software.

If BIOS is reading it I would suggest putting in your recovery CD or a fresh install of your operating system and see if it can reinstall to that HDD.

All BIOS system are different so I could not tell you without knowing what BIOS your running how to enter it. You should be able to hit escape for F10 while computer first is starting up to enter BIOS settings if you didnt know how to already. Write back if you have any more questions please or need further instructions or clearification on what ive said.

Need new pass word

Go to www.facebook.com, click on the 'forgotten your password' link above the log in box. Enter the details needed, and click 'reset my password'

You WILL need to know your email address to retrieve the email Facebook will send you.
If you don't know your email address password, recover this first by going to the website of whoever your email address is with. For example if you're with hotmail go to www.hotmail.com, if you're with yahoo, go to www.yahoo.com.

Once you have recovered your facebook password and logged on, you can then change you email address by clicking on 'account', then 'account settings' then clicking the 'change' button next to 'email'

Hope this helps, Gillian

Gauges intermittent operation. they turn off and on at will. i have cleaned and then replaced the ground wire. it helped some but did not permanently fix the problem.

It is normal for hard drives lights or gauges to work intermitently, in normal computers.
. It only work while it is fetching data to the Ram memory.
And it does that as needed.
It i sjust a waherhouse, that stores the data.

the computer does not work directly from it.

USB station is not connecting to USB drive

Something similar happened to me. The solution for this was to unplug USB drive, and reset the device. Afterwards everything worked smoothly.

The other solution might be just to plug the disc drive into another port to see it there is some problem with that specific port USB port.

Good luck!

Boot error message

Do you have a disk inside your floppy drive? If you do, remove it and try to boot your computer again.

Do you have a USB hard disk connected? If you do, try disconnecting it first.

If those two things don't work, you will need to have your computer checked by a technician. Maybe there is a problem with the hard disk or with the BIOS configuration (boot sequence).

Good luck!

Problem When i turned on the equipment

You can try removing the hard drives as a las resort and connect them via either SATA or EIDE to your PC. I'm not sure what you set as a RAID level, but if it's RAID 1 (mirroring), the data on both drives should be identical. Is it still under warranty? If so, I'd suggest getting Sun on the phone to get it repaired.
