GE Profile TFX22PR side by side. Freezer works fine, but Refridge side is not holding cold temp and the door gasket is quite warm to the touch.

YEs, this is normal.

the ice is caused from the frozen drain in the back. the cold coil is also frosen / this stopes the air to the fresh food .. so defrost the freezer and ck the heater and defrost termator . . you may also need the main control that has the defrost timer on it . located on the back of frig.. hope this helps . mm

One of four problems,

1: this box has two sensors in the freezer... one on the top of the evap and one on the bottom left side of freezer cabinet (little small round white things) in the back lower portion of the freezer. These have been know to go bad and cause this problem.

2: you have a defrost problem caused by a bad main board or bad defrost heater.

3: you have a evap fan going bad on you, quits when frig gets to right temps. in other words the fan doesn't like the extreme colds,

4: door gaskets are leaking air around doors.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge.The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

The main control board could solve the display problem . May also solve the cooling problem , but would need to know , if frost build up on back wall inside freezer , are both fans working (freezer and compressor cooling fan) , is the compressor running ,are the coils clean in back of refrig ? Unsure about a "door latch" . The freezer door ,rides on glides , and the magnetic gasket should hold it closed .

Is this a self defrost model? Frost inside the freezer could be an air leak around the door gasket. Remove the back panel in the freezer and completely defrost the coils. Is the fan running in the freezer. That will make the frig not be cool. With the door closed peek in the gasket to make sure the light is shutting off, this will warm a frig also.

the condensation is due to a small amount of cold freezer air getting past the gasket. Warm the entire gasket up for a few minutes with a hair dryer and then close the door and keep it closed for 30 minutes. That will reshape your gasket and solve your problem.

Defrost heater is open behind back wall. order new heater #wr55x10101 remove 4 screws 2 bottom, 2 top behind light shield, defrost freezer so ice is off of evap, replace heater with new one.

brookid, first you want to start with the basics; door seals are good, light turning off with door closed, dispensor duct door closing all the way, condensor coils cleaned, evaporator fan and condensor fan are running. If you are satisfied that there are no problems here then you want to see if you have a heavy frost build-up on the back of the freezer panel. If you do, you have a defrost issue that usually involves the defrost heaters, main board or freezer thermistor. Tests will have to be made on the main board to determine these. If you don't have a frost build up, you need to check the airflow vents from the freezer to the refer compartment. I will attach a photo of a refrigerator with a defrost problem. Catriver...post back.
