Midland 77-118. Three wires coming out of unit red, black, and orange. What is the orange for? Also need manual.

Its like the wiring in your house. That little three prong plug. There are three wires, one black, one white, and one green. The green is a ground wire , the black is neg flow and the white is positive flow. Well the red wire is hot ,the yellow wire is neg flow, and the black is ground. Some times the yellow wire isn't even connected. Look inside your radio and you will only see a red and black wire???you will have to google the radio model as such ( 77-118 owners manual)

2005 nissan quest se radio don't work is boss System

Try running the leads for the power directly from the battery positive and negative .... make sue it doesn't have theft control... could have tripped that..... usually 2 power hookups, one for always hot and one that is designed to have power only when the key is in.... both must be powered up on the battery positive post or it will not turn on... then ground neg... on negative post.... how up a speaker lead and try... next check to see if fuse is blown on radio wire... white push and turn tube on one of the power wires... usually red wire.. hope it helps... also try a different speaker just incase your original speakers are shorted or blown

I want to install a 12 volt power point like the car lighter plug in my boat. Can it be done and how?

Yes. You can do it several ways. If you have a metal boat use 2 wires pos/neg with a fuse if you want fulltime power. Or in a Fiberglass or wood boat, 1 wire from POS and fused and have the GRD wire to catch a grounded wire closer to the appliance.

If you have a fuse panel, you can use the panel for power. But if you want fulltime power you will need a fuse that does not shut off with the ignition. Or you may want it to only work when the ACC side of the switch is on.

You can also add a panel switch if you want to control it that way instead. You just need to watch that you are not energizing the whole fuse panel from the 1 hot terminal you are using. Stray voltage can cook parts that are suppose to be off and also cause Electrolysis.

Wiring for 92 geo metro radio

  • Not sure if you are talking about wires from Metro harness or radio? Radios usually have red for power or hot, black is usually ground and yellow is probably the lights inside the radio. Try taking a VOM meter and verifying the wires if you know how to use one. red should be hot, black on ohms scale should conduct to the neg or ground. Yellow should have power (battery voltage) when you hit parking or headlights if I'm correct. If not may be the power antenna wire if it's from the radio, not used in most cases.

Radio works on tech bench, not in the boat

Yes, the yellow wire is the switched hot lead - it is typically connected in one way or another to the ignition switch. There is also a smaller gauge red wire that is connected directly to the battery (through a fuse of course). Both of these wires have to have power for the radio to work. Also the black wire has to be connected to a good ground. If all three of these wires are confirmed to be in good order (power where there should be power, ground where there should be ground and no shorts) the radio should at least power up when they are all hooked up and the ignition is on.

Diagram of 36 volt hookup for trolling motor, i have a factory 24 volt wiring in my boat and I need to turn it into a 36 volt please help thank you

To get 36 volts, number batteries 1 thru 3. connect pos 2 to neg 1, connect pos 3 to neg 2, connect pos 1 to trolling motor controller and neg 3 to ground on trolling motor.
This is only a solution for 3 battery system.
For 4 battery system, connect 4 to 3 pos to pos and neg to neg.
