Question about Medion MD-1768 PC Desktop

1 Answer

Medion md1768 has been reformatted, recovered several times, but it continues to power down and restart at anytime. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason. I believed it to be infected so had the HD wiped and reformatted. Worked well for awhile then it would just turn off and go into restart, sometimes it restarts okay, most times it would ask me to go to last known good start..that was okay cause i haven't put anything back on it except wireless and SIMS. Now I can't go much longer than 10 minutes without the power down. I tried recovery and reinstall of windows from included disc, but that seems to have made things worse..now it asks to press r for repair at next screen that never comes

I think you need to shut off reboot on error
Here is some info on this
then it should show you the error screen instead of just rebooting
could be some hardware problem

My Medion MT6 desktop has developed a problem. When I power it up, the fans power up then shut down immediately. They then power up for a couple of seconds longer, then shut down. The process continues...

take it into a computer repair shop for a proper diagnosis
could be a faulty power supply or failing mother board
check that the power lead is properly connected top the pc

How do I reformat and reload windows 7 on my computer?

Hi and welcome to FixYa.

When you reformat your computer, please note that you will lose all data, pictures and files etc. Please take time to back them up if you wish to keep them.

Turn off your computer by holding down power button for 10 seconds.
Press and hold zero key and press your power button one time.
(do not let go of zero key)
If done correctly, you will hear a series of beeping. When you hear this, release the zero key.
You will be asked with a warning screen if you wish to continue. Select yes.
Select recovery for factory default and hit next.
Then select recover out of state box.
Then, select next.
You will continue on, click next and this should start recovery!

You will not have to reformat your windows when this is done. It sets it back to original settings.

Thank you for choosing FixYa! We have several other help areas if you need something else and we are happy to help!

Make my medion md1768 faster starting up

Ok -

This is usually to do with how many things are running when you start the computer. The best way to cheange this is to click start then run, then type msconfig and press ok and you will see a box appear.

Click on the startup tab along the top and all the things in the list that are ticked are running when you start up.

Check the name of each ticked item to make sure you know what it is is and if you dont need it in startup untick it. Things like itunes2_bing.gif, adobe speed reader, quick time task etc arent needed at startup and can be opened just the same by double clicking the program as usual when needed

I have a Medion MD8825 power button blinks

Very possible a power supply. You are giving time for the power supply to cool off. So I would guess you are right about the power supply. They are not too expensive so you might want to replace it..Darren

Recovery mode

For those with the 4 GB model, try removing the SD card and powering completely off, without selecting any of the recovery options.  You will probably get prompted to recover when the device boots, click OK to recover - do not reinsert the SD card.  Perform a complete power off and power on cycle without the SD card.  If this works, reinsert the SD card and perform a power off/power on cycle.  If it prompts you to recover the system, the SD card is bad (the data can probably be read by the device after it has restarted, but will continue to cause the recovery mode).  Note that reformatting the card in the device does not seem to resolve the issue.  Try reformatting the card in a PC or digital camera (this option worked for me).

Possible Corrupted Hard Drive

is it a lappy or desktop? if its a desktop, you can make your drive a slave in order to recover those files that you want. same goes if its a lappy. however, it would give you a hard time becasue you have to take out the HD fro the lappy unlike the Desktop cpu.

seems like your froze to a point it cant pass over the startup windows loading. it may be that some window files were tampered by an illegal operation by some of your programs.

reformat will do the trick. recover your files by using another cpu of a friend and after that, reformat that drive.
