Hello.

There is a known shut down problem regarding the hpcmpmgr.exe program.

Hi. To reset an HP Officejet 6500 E709a or 6500 Wireless E709n, follow these simple steps:
1. Press the (*) and (#) buttons on the printer control panel at the same time and let go.
2. Use right and left arrows to scroll trhough menu and select "Resets"
3. Select "Semi-Full" reset and printer will shut off in a few seconds.
4. Unplug the printer from wall and wait 30 seconds.
5. Plug in the printer, Turn printer on and selec basic settings.
Your printer is now reset!!!

Make sure you got the genuine ink cartridges because the machine has sensors detects the original ones.

Our HP Deskjet 6500 wireless copier is stuck on copying 8.5 x 11 about 1/4 of the size smaller...shrunken copies, AH! How can we reset the copier. Thank you April

  • On the document you want to print.
  • Go to FILE, PRINT (or PRINTER PROPERTIES)
  • The Print Dialog Box will open
  • Click the EFFECTS tab
  • Check the option that says Print document on:
  • Choose the correct paper size from the pull down menu
  • Uncheck the option that says Scale to fit.

The printer shows as offline. I can't shut it down. The power button is flashing.


Localize the printer in the system=Control Panel,when there right click the printer and select online.

You could try these two suggestions from HP support. The semi-full reset will affect quite a few settings. Perhaps you should copy down these settings for reference later.
