First, try shutting down the computer, remove the battery for about 10 minutes, make sure the battery compartment is clean, put battery back in, and restart with ac plug not plugged in. If that doesn't work, I would try flashing your BIOS.

NO BATTERY DETECTED

First of all, try removing the battery. Hold the power button on the laptop for about a minute while it is disconnected from the mains and the battery. The re-insert the battery. Hopefully it will charge now. If not I would recommend trying a replacement battery.

Sony Vaio VGN A-690 no battery detected

Yeah. If when you take out the A/C adapter, the laptop goes off immediately, even though you have bought a new battery, then it's definitely some hardware issue with the laptop itself. I'd say just live with it as it wouldn't be worth getting fixed (cheaper to get a new laptop).

If it can run on battery fine, it's just that windows indicates that the battery is not detected, then it could be a software issue. But given it's the same in Windows 7 as with XP, this could be BIOS related. Perhaps try flashing the BIOS?

Sony vaio replacement battery not detected in windows 7

open task manager by pressing CTRL ALT DEL on the keyboard at the same time
from processes tab click or similar and click end process
If this solves the issue for now then click on file, new task, run
disable from the startup tab, click apply, ok and restart

Second possible solution is to reinstall and from esupport.sony.com

Sony Vaio VGN-FS315E......At first the laptop could not detect the battery, so i was using the charger only but with the battery inside for sometime.I switched it on one morning and the laptop went of...

The battery might be damage for the time of use or maybe you put in a inadecuate space, the computer works perfectly without the battery but if it doesnt occure and the computer dont works with out the battery and the charger dont supply the energy of the pc maybe you can try with a new battery and a new charger if it doesnt solve the problem your internal hardware is damage or your software is corrupted or damage too.

My Sony Vaio VGN NR 120e battery is not detecting,it works on AC. til yesterday Battery was in good condition with back up 3 hrs! i have down loaded on movie softwatre ,then its stoped working. Plz help...

The Battery driver is beeing controlled by the Notebook control and Utility. What you can try to do is to reinstall it from the link below

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNNR120ES&upd_id=3262&os_id=28

If after reinstalling the Notebook control and utility and still the battery wont be detected, do the steps below

  1. click on the start button
  2. type msconfig on start search box
  3. click msconfig from the list
  4. it will load system configuration utility
  5. go to startup tab
  6. on the list, look for isb utility then uncheck it
  7. click on apply
  8. click ok, then restart the computer
test if the battery will be detected.
If still none, then it needs battery replacement
